After fooling with the wiring trying to find the source of an engine miss I went for a ride...............for about two kilometres. CEL came on and bike barely managed to run. Back to the shed. Rear injector ground to earth or open. Rear injector wire had come off the injector at the connector. As I had ecmspy connected I cycled through the checks ( fuel pump, injectors etc both before and after putting the wire on). After replacing the rear injector wire I cycled the coils and heard a muffled bang through the manifold. Turns out that if you cycle the injector after checking the fuel pump it squirts fuel into the chamber. If you then cycle the coil test it ignites the mixture and you get a mild explosion from the open valve in whichever cylinder is open. Just a caution for those who cycle this more than once as the bang might get bigger! |

Thanks for the info. It certainly makes sense. I cycled through the tests in the order shown in ECMSPY with no issues. |
