QUESTION OF THE HOUR: Has anyone ever gone 200MPH on a single engine motorcycle, under 2000cc, with an open body? I mean...other than RICHARD NALLIN of TEAM ELVES. Interesting Observation: At this moment, it's a dead heat tie between Erik Buell and Janice Nallin as to who is most excited. Mrs. Nallin, as good fortune dictates, is at least at work in an emergecny room where she can get treated. Mr. Buell, on the other hand, is said to be hopping and leaping about a factory strewn with sharp objects. Speed can be dangerous! |

Vic, You're right.. It's easy to forget the other guys when you see 200+ numbers being put up. I know Chop and company worked their butts off to get all the machine's ready. All of their efforts are just Waaay to Cool! All of us are so lucky to be able to be there vicariously(sp?) through the efforts of others. Court, keep the up to the minute new coming! Brad |

NEWS FLASH Well gang......things are getting VERY INTERESTING on the Bonneville Salt Flats. Let me set the scene: The TEAM ELVES S2 had been torn down, inspected. the records in the books and young Nallin is running about wearing his 200MPH Club and Hat. Life's good...... Then....Fireman Jim Higgins appears (remember the S2 has just been completely torn down) in the TEAM ELVES pits announcing "hey, another RR just appeared at the starting line" What the F?????? Well....seems one of the folks who's been a very "interested" spectactor making regular visits to the TEAM ELVES pits to check on set-up and success turns out to be a "closet-petitor". He ran a 191MPH w/o nitrous or fairing and, the moment the S2 was torn down, appeared back in the picture WITH an RR-1000 fairing. Nothing on the streets of Dodge City at High Noon EVER approached what was in young Nallin's voice a moment ago. To those of you who know Wilson and Nallin, I'll leave it to you to provide the word for how competitive these boys are. As I type this, Aaron is working diligently to reassemble the Buell and I am coaching Richard to "ride SMART, not mad". Richard's only reply is "This in no time for mercy, it's time for an ass-whooping and I'm gonna find out how fast this bike is". Gang.....I'd stay tuned if I were you. The pool's open. My money's on Aaron's smarts. . . Richard's skills and their combined "aroused" competitive spirit. Court |

Just got the second hand skinny from Court. Apparently the S&S team had been hanging around, being friendly, asking questions of the Team Elves contingent (Aaron, Richard, Jim and Jim). Turns out they were a bit underhanded in their tactics and were conducting reconnaisance on their competitor. S&S is now in line apparently ready to put in an all out run for the record. If they are in the ball park of the 202 mph record they will need to run a backup run tomorrow morning. With the racing scheduled to end tomorrow afternoon, you'd think that would be S&S's only chance for the record; they would not be able to get in another qualifying and backup run. It turns out however that the SCTA has extended racing through Sunday morning. Hmmmm. Wonder how that came to pass? Rules changes at the last minute? Hmmmm. No matter. The good news is that we have ourselves a real showdown. Some actual competition. Ain't that a change? S&S's 191 mph run with an unfaired bike doesn't make a lot of sense to me. I'll try to get confirmation on that. The part that sounds suspect to me is not the 191 mph, but the "unfaired" description. I'm betting Aaron is carefully reassembling the engine and will get Richard another run this afternoon with a new set of jets for the nitrous. Whoever comes out on top tomorrow morning will still have one more chance to raise the record tomorrow afternoon with a backup run on Sunday morning. Strategy could play as big a role as HP, aerodynamics, and gearing. Will the engines hold up? Will track conditions hold steady, improve, or degrade? Can the juggernaut S&S team of technicians and engineers match the efforts of Aaron and Wes? Does the S&S rider have the skill, experience, and judgement to match Richard Nallin? Stay tuned, this is getting VERY interesting. I'm betting on Team Elves, the guys in the white hats. Go get 'em boys! Blake PS: No matter who walks away with the record, Team Elves was the first ever to break the 200 MPH record barrier on a pushrod unstreamlined motorcycle. That is HUGE!!! WAY TO GO AARON WILSON!!! WAY TO GO RICHARD NALLIN!!! WAY TO GO CYCLE-RAMA!!! |

Krykie! Who'd a thunk another bike with RR bodywork would have shown up. It's adversity such as this that will make victory so much sweeter. Backing the team in spirit. |

Ya gotta love it........ Ok....the BATTLE OF THE TWINS is shaping up. I'm not going to, in the words of the war department, discuss "operational strategies" but I will provide you with a correction to the above. I was under the impression that the 191MPH run was without a fairing. It was WITH a Buell RR-1000 fairing, but no NO2. It appears, to this reporter, that the "apples to apples" picture comes out to 188MPH vs. 191 MPH. Questions abound.....theories run rampant.....tension mounts.....and the sun races Westward.....What do those Elves do? Oh yeah...the event has been extended to Sunday. Now, boys and girls, you've all the pieces of the puzzle. What would Aaron do? Former SCCA Corvette Champeen, knows strategy like Patton, has a fresh, rested and pumped up jockey and knows this Buell chassis and motor inside and out....... Stay tuned.......I'm off to a meeting in Gotham. I'll be getting regular updates and will post them the moment I get to a keyboard. Man O' Man....did you dude (and dudettes) start some kinda race team or what???? Court |
