A while back I saw a youtube video where a guy had LEDs on the side of his 1125R that lit with the brake lights. Does anyone have a good source/is a good source to help me figure out how to build or get a hold of the right kind of LEDs to make something similar for my bike? I would really like to understand how the LEDs effect the electrical system as well before I get to adding something like this.

The LEDs have very little effect the electrical system. They are low current draw comparied to conventional lights.

These are some of the LEDs I added, along with the Givi V35 hard bags:

There are many suppliers of LED lights. What do you want to do with them? Brake lights, turn signals, running lights or decorative? IMHO,I would avoid the last one unless you plan on running them while you are riding.

PM me and I can give you some ideas.

Gotta ask you a question bout your pic.

Your right signal is only half lit. My set burned out the inner/running lights too. Please comment.

I've gotten LEDs for all my projects from www.superbrightleds.com

I normally tie them into the running light circuit and ground of the existing lights with the spice-in crimp connectors.

There's lots of ways to do it, and as Ccryder mentioned, they are quite low draw and will have minimal effect on the bikes electrical. The exception being if your manage to create a short or some other electrical problem.

Blk_SnwMn - Have you tried any of their LEDs for turnsignals? Were they bright enough to pass for DOT Legal?

I think you meant "running them while you are NOT riding."

Anyway, are the red areas on your Givi's actually lights? Hard to tell in this pic.
If so, do you just leave your bags on all the time or have some type of quick disconnect for the electrical connection?

The red panels on the Givi bags are REAL bright LEDs that are triple function: Turn, brake and running lights. Admorelighting makes the LED displays and the harness that has the controller. IMHO it's pretty darn slick.

The turn signals are not stock. Yes I have been having some issues with them. They are dual circuit lights with running lights and turn signals.

I guess I am a little dyslexic, even though I meant what I said, I should have said while the engine is running, which would usually happen while you are riding ;+}

FWIW LEDs are beyond my mechanical engineering skills. As noted in other threads, it seems like reliable LEDs are beyond some electrical engineer's skills also. Anyway, I would suggest you consult with some pros and LED circuit design and LED brightness.

Our sponsor at XBlights is pretty good at LED circuit design, he might be a good resource/ source.

They sent me a new set of boards but I haven't put them in yet because I'm not convinced it will solve anything (i.e. burn out again...)

Whose LED lights do you have?
