Easy - Hell even if you don't get it done you should ride out - you own one, so that's enough in my book. Court - You're in for a tee-shirt or ten, do you think you and the Great Dane can make the ride? David |

Ok guys, check your archives. I need a pic of a S2 in computer format, like a doc jpeg etc. Here is what I would like to have
I hope that does not break any copy write laws! I will have the words Buell S2 and Thunderbolt and the event itself put on there. One thing that has been eating at me is the resort. I may have to explore Durango. Also I have not heard back from Buell on the Homecoming dates yet which I need to determine when to do this. I would still like to do it in June with rides in the mountains. Rex, I sent you an email. Frank |

I feel like this is snowballing a bit and I am a bit overwhelmed (mostly due to my day job) but it is great!.... I think I can safely say that we all appreciate what you're doing. As far as I'm concerned, it's October. Don't try to have it all planned by January. Worst that can happen is there's a Buell-stock in Colorado, but I imagine we can all fend fairly well for ourselves if we're just given a place and a date to meet. Anything else is bonus! |

Frank, You have a scanner? If so, lay that shirt on it and do a scan. With a bit of photoshoping, a nice line drawing can be made. Then it's a simple transform for a t-shirt or even for embroidering. Brad |

Easyrider, thanks and you are right. In a prior life I did Operational Testing for space systems. I always had to write a test plan, get approval at all levels for the plan, brief the 4 star on the plan and then implement the plan. Nothing ever went according to the plan LOL.... Rex has stepped up to the plate for the T-shirts. Thanks Rex.... While riding to work today I was getting disgusted with the resort in Gateway. I am seriously considering Breckenridge again. There are a lot of advantages to Breckenride the most important one is having Kim and Cheryl there that manage several condos. Some others advantages are underground parking, a conference room and cooler temps in the summer..... All I really need are the homecoming dates and then I will plan around that. Frank |

Frank - I'm the kind of S2 owner who might not own a jacket, but makes sure when he wrecks and breaks just about every bone below the waist, he's not on his S2! I just haven't been able to find one in my size yet is all. I really want one, since I own (almost) both bikes on the jacket. I can stretch and say my S1W 'matches' the S1 logo, lol. |

We will put together a list of items to be done, and start putting some names to the various jobs. It is not rocket science, but there is science in the planning and details. This could be fun, and we have some time to do it. The big thing is to get organized, set up some objectives, what we want to do, and have complete details for those that will come out. REX |

Well, I plan to be there somehow. Hopefully I'll have my finances set aside and have a '96 S2T by then. If not I'll either ride this one or find a bike to ride to CO. I like the jacket. I should look for one in my size... |

Frank, I've done well staying in Montrose, and using that town as a base of operations on my short vacations in Colorado. I've also stayed in Mancos which provides access to both sides of the western Mt range. My favorite place to stay in in Lake City, at the Alpine Moose Lodge. Bruno, the owner, is a 5 star chef from france. The food and the accomodations are well worth the stay. Lake city is located in the center of Colorado, affording many the opportunity to choose from 4 long distance day rides. I'm sure you could get a good deal from Bruno... Bart |

Bart, thanks for the ideas. I am really disappointed in the response I got from Gateway. I am going to check into Breckenridge and see if Kim can help us out. There are a couple of reasons I am looking at Breckenridge that I outlined in the other thread. I remember you telling Lynn and I about the Alpine Moose Lodge. Lynn and I are thinking about taking a weekend trip to check that out next summer regardless.... Frank |

I want to let everyone know what I have set up so far with the help of Rex and Bartimus. We have 15 rooms blocked off at a hotel in Buena Vista Colorado. I have looked at some routes in that area to ride (long and short ones) Buena Vista is a little tourist town with the prison being the major industry as well as white water rafting. The dates are 19, 20 and 21 June (Fathers day is 21 June I think). Once I receive confirmation from the hotel I will post the information on who to call and the prices of rooms. I will also submit the info to the Buell folks so it can be included on the web site. Lynn and I will probably be there the day before (Thursday 18 June) and will just take a day to do the tourist thing and have a few cold ones at the local VFW (it is a real nice post). Here is what I am thinking for activities: Friday 19 June: Check into your room and maybe meet for dinner and talk about S2s. Saturday 20 June (Morning): Breakfast at the hotel and a good all day ride in the mountains stopping for lunch along the way. Saturday 20 June (Night): Awards presentation, T-Shirts, etc. (If anyone has specific activities to do this would be the time. I will have the conference room reserved all day Saturday. Sunday 21 June: I imagine most people will want to hit the road to get back to work if they are local so maybe another ride a little shorter is in order. Monday 22 June: go home. Now here is the tricky part. 15 rooms may not be enough. There is another hotel in the town and I will post that info as well as some camping info for those that want to do that. Frank, Went through a portion of the archives for these. Some of them suck, others might be useful. Provided I have your Email addy, full size & res. versions will be sent your way. 1995 Buell S2 Christmas card. I never got an original but was fortunate enough to get a photocopy of one. Damn 1995 photocopying technology and improper storage lead to it being in it's current state:
Fortunately they get (a little) better... Photocopy of sections of the artwork for the 1996 full line employee T-shirts. S2:
S2-T:
Section out of one of the 1995 S2 homologation drawings:

Frank, Found another one. Unfortunately it is not either of the larger folded, lesser photocopy generation ones.
It's a pretty early drawing as evidenced by the 'never made production' timer cover, which only existed in prototype form. It was similar to the dash emblem that was actually made into production level parts, that is pictured in 'the book'. This is the drwaing that I used to decide on a paint scheme for my S2. I don't have an Email addy for you - so shoot me a PM and I will send the full size scans. I hope they will be useful, 1313 |

Frank, I just sent the Email. Here's one scheme that didn't make the cut.
Not a bad scheme, just a little too much for my tastes. As you can tell my plan included the solo seat and tail section from the get-go. However my S2 was red, white and blue for a little while...
Hope what I sent is useful, 1313 (Message edited by 1313 on October 12, 2008) |

Brankin, Can I steal that paint scheme? I have a spare set of body work that would love to wear that paintjob. I've had it for some time and always wanted to do a flag theme. Brad |

Brad, It's fair game. I'd love to see it done, and I'd be honored that it'd be you doing it! I know this goes without saying this, but just make sure you post pictures of it when it's done. I'm sure that I'm not the only one that will want to see it! Sometime, somwhere, somebody is gonna be fed up with me starting stuff like this... 1313 |

S2 Gathering Update The Dates are 19, 20 and 21 June 2009 in Buena Vista Colorado. The Hotel is the Best Western Buena Vista and here is the link: http://www.bestwesterncolorado.com/hotels/best-western-vista-inn/ Here is the email from the Hotel explaining the rooms: Frank, I have reserved 15 rooms for arrival on Friday June 19, 2009 and departure Monday June 22, 2009. I have reserved 10 double queen rooms at a rate of $139.00 per night, plus tax and 5 King rooms at a rate of $148.00 per night, plus tax. When the guests call in we will give them the option of room type and they can reserve the room type of their choice. We will hold the block until May 15, 1009 at which time we will either release the rooms with no further obligation to you or you can give me a credit card at that time. We do have a 30 day cancellation should you decide not to do the tour and cancel the entire block. Individual room cancellations must be received 7 days prior to the reservation arrival date. The reservation number of 1-800-809-3495 as you have listed is the correct number in which they need to call and reserve their rooms. I have also reserved the conference room for you on Saturday June 20, 2009. The number to call to make reservations is 1-800-809-3495. Tell them you are with the Buell Motorcycle Rally. They will also ask for number of people per room. If some of you want to double up to share cost it is a good idea. For camping in the area here is a link: http://www.coloradodirectory.com/buenavista/ I have never stayed in any of these camping areas so I do not know much about them. Another link of interest is the Buena Vista city of commerce site at: http://www.buenavistacolorado.org/ All I ask is when you make your reservations is to drop me a line so I know you are coming. The hotel will provide me updates but I would rather get them real time. You will have to make your reservations by 15 May or we will loose all the rooms not used at that time. If you are staying or camping in another place let me know that too and I would appreciate a cell phone number just in case. I will try to keep the spreadsheet updated as we move closer to the date. List of Activities: 18 June 2009 (Thursday) Lynn and I will arrive to relax and make sure we are ready to get things setup. We may go for a ride and visit the local VFW. Anyone coming in early let us know so we can get together for dinner or a ride. 19 June 2009 (Friday) People will start arriving. Lynn and I will do our best to be at the front desk when people come in. This will be a day to meet and greet and do dinner somewhere. Maybe a late ride to get familiar with the area. 20 June 2009 (Saturday) Morning will be breakfast at the Hotel and take a day ride through the mountains with lunch somewhere along the route. Depending on interest we can have two rides going at the same time with a shorter one with less mountains. The rides are really up to whatever you want to do. Saturday evening will be S2 staging in the hotel parking lot for the judges to look over the bikes and for people to cast their own vote for the peoples choice S2. Depending on time we may do dinner first then have the award presentation and any other business that needs to be taken care of. 21 June 2009 (Sunday) Breakfast at the hotel and a shorter ride. I imagine that anyone local will head home in order to be back at work on Monday. I am taking Monday off so I can get one more day of riding in. Other Things: I will need some judges. Judges should know the S2 inside and out. I will also need someone that can take pictures. I suck at that. Lynn and I will be up a day early to block off an area for S2 parking so I will be looking to get some Buell banners, if anyone has a resource for these let me know. I will check ebay from time to time. If anyone is coming from the East or flying into town and needs to be picked up at the airport let me know and I will see what I can do. Keep in mind I am leaving Thursday to go up to Buena Vista so plan accordingly. If anyone is riding in and wants to sleep at the house before heading into the mountains also let me know. I am thinking of the Texas guys that will pass right by my house. It could be a place to stop, eat, rest and have a few cold ones. I have one extra bed, a futon and plenty of room for sleeping bags. If there are any questions give me a call or shoot me an email. My cell phone is 719-200-4957 Email is f_skinner@yahoo.com Work Phone is 719-554-7256

Frank - I have an original 95 brochure (photos, no line drawings), the "letter" for the signature series to the original owner of my bike, and the signature series laminate card. If you like, I can send any/all of them to you so you can make scans/copies as you need, and you can just send 'em back when you're done. Let me know My next model year is 98, which has a nice line drawing on the cover...but it's an S3, not S2. |

Lets see, Courts S2 is presently sitting in Aarons garage here in Bethoud, CO so he has no excuse not to attend this event now does he. He can fly in to denver where we will pick him up and he can ride his S2 to the event. I guess i have to get off my lazy butt and finish my S2 with the 88" build I have planned for it. |

That is precisely my plan . . . . I'd jump at the chance to get off my ass and come to Colorado to visit and ride. I've been adding scope to the S2 project about long enough and am living in fear of a $20K storage bill from Aaron! I get excited every time I see the photos of what he's done . . spectacular. Frank, I think the S2 looked really cool with the lines and dimensions in the picture . . kinda had a techy flavor to it. This is going to be exciting. |

Funny you should say that. I just posted it to the back of a T-Shirt with the lines. You got to love airports for killing time. Frank |
