has anyone received there hardrock racing exhaust... i got mine in and had to send it back due to the length and brackets being wrong they told me there was two different style headers for the 1125r is this true?...
I started a string on them a few months ago. Most liked the sound but were waiting until a dyno graph appeared to decide. I think it likely will draw too much badged attention with minimal adjustment ability.
I am still waiting for my HR1 Exhaust to come in. It is supposed to be here some time this week. I talked to Jason a few weeks ago, and he told me there were different styles also. He asked me for my production date, which is stamped on my bike. I sure do hope that i dont have 2 send mines back also. When u get yours on, let me know what u think...
I called HR1 last week they told me there was "pre Production" with i could maybe get ahold of if i called tech for 510$ if they had any left or i could wait a month and get the finished product with wont be as raw as the pre production model. im interested in seeing a dyno sheet but they said they cant get one they keep failing due to the fuel injection? Im definitly in the market for exhaust weather it be jardine or HR1 or maybe the Drummer i want to see dyno results!!
I was interested in the HR1 Riot for a while, but since the cost is going up (I was quoted $630) for actual production units, I don't think I'll be going that route. I was always under the impression that the cost lowered when more units were produced. I realize that R&D costs time and $$ and you want to recoup some of that, but once you have a jig set up for welding the pipes, it gets done a LOT faster than a one-off pre-production unit, so you can sell more for a lower price and still make $$. Maybe I'm wrong. They use their stock cans for various bikes, so the cost is a known factor there. R&D would consist of hand cutting and placement of the original, make a jig to hold it, then tuning and fitment to verify that it works. They had at least one donor bike to test with, it's pretty cut and dried if they aren't going to provide dyno run sheets. Cut to fit, weld it (could be done in a jig also, so no screw-ups there, or a competent welder) and sell it. For that kinda $$, I'll stick with the stocker. I've already spent another $1200 on leathers/helmet/gloves and the wife is getting a little bent about all the expenditures on the mistress in the garage.
Jus got my HR1 exhaust in yesterday. Planning on installing it sometime next week. Got a lot of stuff to do this weekend so I cant tear her down. Will give an update once I get her installed...

Buell Doesn't seem to admit it but the bikes that were produced before May 31st have a different alignment or angle bend in them. If you look at bikes Pre may 31st they have about a 5mm to 8mm gap between the head pipes. The post May 31st bikes have a 0mm to 1mm gap between the head pipes. I have verified this on 7 different 1125R produced on various dates. Also I purchased a D&D pipe for my R and screwed with it for about 5 hrs and couldn't get it to seal. My bike was a june bike. My buddy has a late 07 production date R and in less than 30min the pipe was on, sealed and sounding WICKED. (D&D was the first to come out with a pipe, guess what production run the test bike came from)
Bikejunky, if you're running a recent Windows, likely you do have the software to shrink them: Microsoft Photo Editor. Open your pic from Windows Explore (usually just double click on the image, your default may be different; or right click on your image and choose Explorer); from the menu choose Image, choose Resize (expressed as a percentage, I used 20% for the attached image), choose Save As (give it a new name). The attached pics of the bike I commute on (it's 25 y/o, thank you very much) was originally ~500kb, now shrunk to 38kb.
There is a lot of lateral movement available by loosening/retightening the primary pipes. Most folks don't seem to want to go thru the trouble tho but on many installs, it is ness'y.
Are you absolute that the stock MUFFLER ENTRY CENTERLINES are different?
It'd be news to a lot of folks if such was true. mm
I'm not sure exactly what the standard is for measuring MUFFLER ENTRY CENTERLINE. If you could elaborate it might help and I could get some measurements for everyone. What I found was that the stock muffler doesn't like mounting up if you mess with the head pipes on the later production bikes. Had to push them back to where they were touching on mine (june 08 production) to get the stocker back on. (pain in the butt by the way) The bike (late 07 production) that I put the D&D on didn't need the head pipes moved at all, and his stocker needed the gap to go back on. I'm not an engineer, but I would say that there must be some small difference that over distance translates out to a bigger difference at the end angle of the head pipes. You tell me???
To measure the actual inlet centerline of the stock muffs or any aftermarket slipon...
Use calipers and measure the ID of the entry. Do this without the sealing gasket in place. This diameter will be added or subtracted later on.
Then measure the ID to ID of the inner most edges of the entry. Then measure the ID to ID of the outer most edges of the entry.
Add and subtract your findings to find an averaged centerline.
You cannot split hairs here as the receiver is designed to compress slightly with a clamp.
I hope this makes sense.
If you don't wish to remove the muff for this, simply measure the OD to OD of where the primaries slip in...then subtract the diameter of one primary to find a close centerline reference. This method is less accurate tho.
I have the measurements at the shop but cannot recall them from memory. If you need, I'll posts the actual centerlines for reference monday night.
IMO, you cannot look at the primaries here, it's the entry centerline that is relevant. No engineering degree required! Just high school math. mm
I think the OD is 1.75" and it was 3.5" for the centerline. The gap between the pipes should be about 1/2" on the older 08 models. I'm thinking of getting a different can to put on mine and doing some tig welding myself now. I want a longer can than what HR1 is using and I had a carbon fiber M4 pipe on my last bike. Just gotta find some 1.75" pipe in SS to work with now.
ok so put my hr1 exhaust on and it is rediculously loud i have the slider fully open which is what makes the bike the quietest and it is really obnoxious it is so loud the firs couple times i rode the bike i could not hear for a couple hours after i got off of it and i havent put it on the dyno yet but man do i feel a difference in the power of the bike
Congratulations on getting your exhaust installed. I can't wait til I get mines on. I am kinda tired of looking at my pipe in the box. Hopefully I will get mines installed sometime this week. I am so anxious. I feel like a lil kid waiting for Christmas. I will give updates once I get it installed.
Hey Choppercz cool yeah it is insane you will love it the only problem is it gives you alot of unwanted attention some times like depending where you are i was in ri on thayer street and got pulled over cause the cop thought my pipe was to loud and man it is very loud you will love it keep the slider open all the way it is as quiet as it will get and you can only go halfway closed on the slider due to build up on compression so never go lower and removing the stocker isnt bad heres some tips there are two bolts in the radiator under the bike one through foot peg on brake side one through belt pulley on the shifter side then should pop right off..... if you got any questions on installation i can walk you through it to
Jptrac, if you couldn't hear for a couple of hours after riding, then it's probably a little bit loud. I'd highly recommend some earplugs before you go deaf.
yeah i picked up a pair but now that i am used to it it doesnt seem as loud i got the earplugs though you can hear the exhaust even through those lol... its i nice sound to the new pipe thanks for the concern
get some Hero's...33dB drop....comfy...love them. Wear them every time you ride. they are a part of my ATGATT setup. (All the gear includes hearing protection...not just skin armor)
I just installed my Hr1 Riot exhaust 2day. It is extremely loud. I thought it would be a lil bit more quite than this. But Loud Pipes Saves Lives. So I am cool with it. Pictures coming soon...
