Ive gone into diag. mode and it says i have a ecm error P_ _ _ _. no numbers after the p. the service manual doesnt go into check engine light causes it just says check electrical diag. manual, which i doent have. I unattached the negitive battery terminal, before doing the heated grips. i bought them from american sportbike, and i used the uly right side switch housing. Does any one have a electric manual? maybe u could give me some ideas where to start to get the light to come off. i dont want to drive it with it one. My battery light did come on when i first went into the diag. mode to check the tps. i then started the bike to charge the battery some. and the battery light went off. but even after starting it 3 times the check engine light stayed on. please help. |

Just did a quick browse through the elec diag manual and there was no mention of a code without anything after the P. |

the p----- is just an informational code. it does not affect engine management or anything. There should be another code in diagnostic mode. Mike |

i checked again and there isnt any code. but it has to do with the ecm error. what do they say in the electrical diag. manual that has to do with the ecm errors? Im goin to try to drive it and after a couple miles ill check for codes. |

Undo the last thing you did, eg, unplug the grips. Look around where you were to make sure you didn't unplug something. If that doesn't work, take it to the shop. Z |

the light went off today on the ride i took. but its still reading ecm error in the diag. mode. ill try the unpluging thing. but i think itll still show the code even if i did unplug or plug in the right thing since it stores the codes. we'll see. and my dealer is closed on mondays. but it seemed to work fine today when i took it out. ill check tomorrow, and get back to u guys. good idea zack. thanks |

As long as the CEL is off, you're good. The IC will hold the code for 50 clean restarts. Or you can have it erased at the dealer with a DT II. Z |
