I rushed out to the barn this evening to get the XB back together and listen for my noise I've been trying to diagnose. I was hoping it was cured but highly doubtful. Got it cranked; yep, still there. I pulled out my long screwdriver and stuck it to my ear and started scouting different spots and listening. Lots of scary noises everywhere you go, but not the one I was after. This was more complicated than I thought. I knew I was going to have to work at this. I cleared my mind of all distractions, engaged my deepest senses. Moving my instrument from place to place, slowly carefully. Trying to tune in the particular frequency. WAIT! GO BACK! Was that it? I closed my eyes, heightened my awareness... deeper... deeper... Now I'm getting something. Yeah Man! I'm in there now! I can hear the different sounds all around me. I feel the spray of the oil, sense the power An alarm starts quietly in the back of my mind; I push it farther back. I'm on a mission here! Man it's hot in here! My brain is going into overdrive. I'm starting to sweat....but I'm picking up something.......something.... It's an odor. Weird. Have I become one with the machine to the point I can actually smell the sound? If I opened my eyes could I see it? The alarm comes back with more urgency. Hey! I think I should know that smell!! My mind flashes back to some of those times I have suddenly discovered I was on fire. FIRE? That familiar smell.....is it burning flesh? No! It's It's HAIR!!!  those pipes get HOT!!    Maybe they need one more warning sticker on these things. Rotzaruck!! | ||

That was friggin hilarous! Nice writing style. I've done the same thing but not for a very long time. I have real curly hair, I can even do a fro. Might have something to do with my "incident"... Thanks for sharing your humliation.... Brad | ||

I would like to thank every one for their kind words and sympathetic thoughts regarding my most recent hairowing experience. Since I was still feeling kind of hairied the neat day, and I made a grocery run for some flat bread and chip crumbs,  and needed some sympathy, Beck gave me my very own ice cream cone!  I have real curly hair, I can even do a fro. Might have something to do with my "incident"... I ONLY have curly hair when it's on fire. We all seem to have these "incidents", which one was that? We missed you at Buelltoberfest. It's ALWAYS SOMETHING!! Next time!! Neil, you may be far enough away now to dodge the fall out! I'm especially grateful to Glitch for my warning sticker. It even has my picture on it! I have forwarded it to Buells Legal Department, explaining what a risk they are taking by not having it on there to start with.
