I need to know if a 2003 Sportster crank is the same as a tuber crank. I have a 2000 M2 with a bad crank, will it fit? I know the cam drive may need to change but will crank bearings etc be the same? The Sportster motor didn't change until 2004, my thinking is it should work. Anyone? Brad |

I dare say it would fit, the Buell crank is probably lighter tho. |

Brad Don't know if the sportster crank will work. Though I saw something on the 08 crank for our tubers. With the bigger crank pin, but there was something about bearings and/or some case work. Just an idea. Joe |

The Buell crank is WAY lighter, but it should fit and work. |

Brad, wow seeing you post a question instead of the answer is rare... what did you do to the m2? I know as well as you im sure that the sportys crank is way heavier, but can you have it machined to be better or do yo not care to much? BLAKE |

I'm not so concerned about the weight. In face I've kind of grown to like the heavier flywheels on my S2. It's Thunder Stormed like my Cyclone so it should be the same. The Cyclone had a oil filter back off and dump all the oil. I didn't catch it quick enough and the crank got damaged. At first I thought it was just the top end but after I rebuilt that, it started the death knock about 700 miles later. I haven't been able to justify a new crank. So I've just been keeping my eyes open for a low cost replacment. I might go for Sportster crank if I can get it cheap enough. Brad |
