Took my 25 to the track today. The exhaust performed perfectly. All the power I wanted without any low spots or anything. Ran perfectly. Well it ran perfectly untill I high sided! Im OK bikes notI think I need some tuning on my suspension for the spring. Besides the scratched up body parts and some mud and grass all is well. My suggestion is to get one if your looking. |

Yeah I got mine on also and the crashed at Wolf Pen Gap this weekend, the crash rating on this bike is a 10, I went over a gaurd rail and down a hill about 20 feet and only bent the left clip-on. As for the exhaust it sounds freaking awesome and it does not really reduce the lean angle at all. Jimmy |

JMR The only thing I can tell is I lost traction on the rear tire. I wasnt on the brake. I was in turn 4 at nelsons. At the turn in point (about 5 feet before) there are like hopping skid marks. The track is very rough. Either that or I down shifted late and got 2 gears. I dont remember. The bike posted on the shift side peg. XL1200r I did get the exhaust tucked I had the bracket in backwards! a matter of fact, the pipe wasnt even scratched! thanks for brining that up before. The performance of this pipe is awesome! Im glad I bought it. So much for my insurance Im sure it will skyrocket! |

i have some track days next year, and ur lowside bothers me. it seems random almost, i want to go but i dont want to wreck. Carmen its hard to tell with insurance. sometimes theres not a increase other times itll go up a couple hundred. My accident experience is with cars only so it might be different. good luck, i wish a speedy fix |

Jmr1283- if you ride a track day like you're worried about crashing... you probably won't (unless someone else hits you). Most track day crashes are the result of people riding beyond their ability- usually from trying to follow someone who's faster than they are. Sometimes you just get surprised by finding a limit that you never knew existed because the street is not conducive to finding limits. Other times- you never figure out what happened (and wish for instant replay). Just remember- "No Fear" is not an appropriate philosophy for riding on the track... some fear will save your a$$. |

I'd have to agree with Red Buell Junkie. I was pushing harder than normal following the lead instructor. I dont think was out of my comfort zone as I had taken that corner 12 or 14 times that day already. I think I down shifted late (very.... and lost focus) the only thing I can attribute it to. So like Red buell said " following someone faster than you" played a roll in some way. I fell I'm OK my bike is repairable and I learned from my mistake. "No Fear" is not appropriate I totally agree "Respect" of the machine and some fear will work for me. lesson learned. JMR read Both Twist of the wrist books. For me this helped alot the first couple classes I took. Just my .02 |

Were you in a group that was over your head? Seems odd that an instructor that is properly doing his job was pushing the group so hard. Maybe I am off? |

No ,it was an open track and a couple instructors were out.I guess like monitors (I don't know) Im not blaming them at all. It was me, He was just trying to help me out and help me with adjusting a line on another turn I as comfortable up until I wrecked. One of the other instructors said I was fine in the first two sessions that day.( I guess my previous post wasn't specific) Anyway, I wish I could figure it out it's driving me crazy. Also took my bike in today and the tech said it may be a loss! I was like OMG no! he was just doing simple math. say prayers for me guys I want my bike back |

Off topic question. Does insurance cover you guys in the states when you do a track day? Or are you purchasing extra insurance somehow? Cause here in Canada if you bin it on the track, you are on your own. |

every one ive told about next seasons track days they've asked me if i wrecked if insurance would cover it. and im pretty sure as long as its a track day and ur not racing itll be covered. just cus its a closed "road" doesnt constatute(sp?) the insurance company to not cover u. i was manly worried about the tires just giving out, or something like that. of topic again, but what company do u guys u for racing leathers? |

As long as you are in "A SCHOOL" I'm pretty sure your OK. My insurance is good to go because of that. |

Generally insurance will cover track days if they are educational (i.e. you're trying to improve your skill) and NOT competitive. YMMV, check with your agent/carrier BEFORE you go to the track. JMR: I use Vanson Leathers, but they're not cheap. They used to make a bunch of Buell stuff, all the Buell leather basically, but it seems that Buell has really scaled back their apparel offerings within the last few months. http://www.vansonleathers.com/ I've heard good things about Syed Leathers. http://www.syedleathers.com/ |

I have a suit made by MotoPort, one-piece. Bought it from a guy I worked with for $100. Good investment, it lives under the bed. It's a little big, which works well in the winter. A couple of layers of thermals top and bottom and I'm good to below 15F.

I will never ride on the street again without leather and armor. The mesh I wear with armor in it , I feel wont hold up well when it meets pavement. OHHH the lessons learned. |
