It looks like a bad casting or something. See how smooth the laft and right areas of the "break" are? That part is obviously machined. Dunno what's up with the middle section though...? ~SM |

the bike rides shifts and clutch feels perfect. Maybe It was from past poor adjustment and hopefully I caught it in time. |

The edges look too clean to be broken IMO. |

The cast beak on the outside ramp is smoother, but I have something similar. (Message edited by buellinachinashop on October 07, 2008) |

I'm with chinashop...mine is smooth as well. It could just be a bad cast from the factory. |

Looks like a gate for casting of the part. They probably cast a bunch of them on the same sprue and then just snap them off at the gate. Looks normal to me. I wouldn't worry about it. |

It is perfectly normal. Some are cast using sprues and gates, and are simply broken off the gate like prowler says, and some are rough, some are smooth. I'd guess the different ones come from different suppliers or molds. There's no machining on that part. Even if it were "broken" right there, that area of the clutch actuator does nothing, and carries no load. That flat comes in handy when pulling the actuator out of the bore (So you can grip it evenly, and keep it from cocking), and I'd guess that's the whole reason it's there. |
