Okay i have a service manual and it says the mile mark for each maintance, but ive seen lots and heard lots of times variences in the schedule. i thought there was a 1000 mile service, which includes valve lash? the manual states 6200. Ill put a list just so its here for people that dont have the serivce manual. 620- oil and check fluids, all operating parts. 6200- same as 620 12400- this is a big one everything u can imagine, minus fork oil change. it has crankcase breather clean or replace, valve clearences. 18600- basicly like 620-6200, but has fork oil change. 31000-same as 6200-620 37200- like 12400 but fork oil change. there are stuff like clutch fluid every 2 years. and stuff like that. but my ? really is that 1000 mile service, have i mistaken something. it does seem like alot of miles between 620 and 6200. oil normally is changed 2500, on all my other bikes. so i guess if thats how much they suggest ill just have to take it upon my self to change more often, i cant hurt. im using syn3. they state that if ur in colder climants and make small trips(less then 24 kilometers, or 15 miles in ambient temps 60 degrees) u should change ur oil every 1500 |

The motor is European, hence the service intervals are metric. 1000 km, 10k, 20k etc. Equates to 620; 6214; 12,428 miles etc. A guideline, adjust accordingly. Z |

all of the maintenance is in Kilometers, so the miles is whatever equates to the corresponding Kilometers. Remember the engine was developed by an Austrian firm (BRP-ROTAX). The first service is at 1000 Kilometer - 620 miles. This is confusing for Harley dealers because the Harley first service is at 1000 miles. All other services are at 10,000 Kilometer intervals. Every 20,000 Kilometers is the big services where everything is checked including the valve clearance. Mike |

ur right about this bike confusing the dealers. i guess im one that gets confused to so i wont point fingers at them. lots of people learning. have u guys came across anything during the first 2-3000miles that i should really look for. i changed my oil and tried to check my belt and it seemed good and tight. when i checked my clutch cover bolts they were practicly finger tight. which worries me. which brings me to this question. i guess i could check all the bolts but shoot i really dont want to. i guess most critical fastners are probably tight, but like the clutch cover other fastners with 9-10 footpounds and no locktite probably should be checked. but with in the first 1000miles jeeze |

I think that your clutch cover is an isolated incident due to manipulation during the recall maintenance. In order to be absolutely certain, though, you should check all the bolts. I have not heard of any "problem" bolts or screws in general, but it is impossible to be sure unless you check them. Remember this is just my opinion. I am a layman and by no means any sort of motorcycle mechanic or tech. Just my thoughts. Mike |

The real part of the first 2 services is the "Check Critical Fasteners" part near the end. Basically, anything that will kill you if it falls off or loosens is a "critical fastener". Z |
