Is anyone else having trouble keeping oil in the bike? I also have excessive valvetrain noise between 3000-4500. sounds like a metallic fluttering. Thanks |

I have been impressed with the LACK of oil burning. I am sure that the Amsoil being synthetic helps too. |

How many miles on the bike? This motor is a lot noisier on top than the Lump™. Z |

4500 miles, I just checked my air filter and looked down thru the stacks and it looks like the front cyl is burning oil. I've used an extra quart so far, not 2 excited about that with 4500 miles on her. |

You might want to ensure that you are not over-filling. Looking down through the stacks, it would be difficult to discern if a cylinder is burning oil unless the oil is leaking past the intake valve guide seal and was leaving telltale signs. |

there could be a split in the diaphram in the clutch if so oil will travel back up the hose into the manifold and into the intake Aprillia have the same set up and some have had the problem |

I had lots of noise that sounded like valve train noise but it ended up being one of the plugs were fouled. The automatic plug cleaner fixed that right up. lol |

I only burned oil during break-in. After that, it has hardly burned any at all. I check my oil all the time and I have had about the same amount since the last oil change. |

I only burned oil during break-in. I couldn't tell you if mine did...it came overfilled by over a quart (conservatively) from the factory/dealer. |

a way to tell if ur burning oil is ur exhaust smoke color. blue is oil burning. also try a compression test. could be ur head gasket, among other things(rings). im pretty sure this is the easiest of the tests. also like fat kid racing said.. but ull have to be really fast at what u do to check it in 1 hour. bleeding the clutch and stuff takes me 20 minutes alone. theres other things too that could be wrong. josh |
