Anybody know any good websites for carb troubleshooting charts/lists? I've got a bike (not a Buell) that won't come back to idle consistently... It seems like an air leak but I can't find one anywhere!!! thanks, chili |

Yes, CV carbs. Good site, but couldn't find anything I haven't checked yet. I might check the diaphragms one more time though... It's Vampress' Kwaka Zephyr 550. The carbs are actually almost identical to the Keihin used on Harleys, just smaller. |

Balanced? If you haven't got access to a proper balancer, take off the air cleaner & use a bit of pipe to listen to the airflow at each carb, Another thing to try is slacking off the links between the carbs so they all sit the same at idle then lock em back up again, you may find that one carb is out of phase with the others if you know what I mean. Hold diaphragms up to the light to look for pinholes, make sure slides are clean & free moving etc etc. If you find one of them is out of whack, try swapping the slide into a different carb & see if the problem moves with it. Have fun & don't let it twist your melon too much, |
