ive been messing around with the jetting but not exactly sure what corrections to make for what problems. first off it an x1 with 40mmcv, proseries headers, d&d mufler, forcewinder intake and crane hi4e ignition. right now i have 45 slow and 190 main, the needle has the clip in the third slot from the bottom and there are 3 little washers on top the needle, the en richer is about 3 turns out and i live about sea level. now for the problem. i know its rich on the idle which i think im close to fixing but from about 1800-3000 after it warms up it feels boggy at cruise(great when first started and cold). if i accelerate it feels great. im sure its rich seeming as it uses a full tank in two days with 2 hours of riding total. now do i adjust the needle to fix this problem? does lowering a notch lean it and waht is the purpose of the washers and does 3 seem right? is the needle what i need to adjust? |

I'm not the "Guru" on carbs, but the bogging issue: are all the vacum lines on and in good shape? is the diaphram intact, and also I'v heard refference to the three washers you spoke of, here or there in the forum, and as I recall are pretty much how it goes. Another thing comes to mind mebe, and thats the accelerator pump. Also most "Kit"s for the CV's have a #45 jet, and more than once I'v heard refference to using the #48, at a low elevation, I too am at a 400 or so foot altitude here in North Carolina. Also the question about the needle, if you raise the c clip. the needle fits lower in the slide, conversly if you lower the c clip it raises the needle an a 'at rest' position in a closed carb, ie not opening the throtle, (Message edited by gohot on October 04, 2008) |

And with that being made as clear as 'mud', some of you Guru's out there may have some advise in the 45 verses the 48 jet setup, or an all together more correct outlook as to the jetting. |
