I need a, "butt dyno," opinion of the set-up I'm working on....here goes. '05 XB12S de-snorkeled, K&N, Drummer ran with the stock ECM.....I just ordered the Buell Race ECM and want to know if any of y'all have added the race ECM after using the stock ECM with a similar set up and what your experience was. I have the VDSTS to re-set the TPS.....thanks Kenny |

"I have the VDSTS" Don't they have shots for that? I've been told that the only real difference between the stock and race ecm's is that the race card directs the motor to run rich. If that's the case, I'd assume you could reprogram a stock ecm to do the same thing. I know there's folks here running Drummers with stock ecms. |

Buellina, you're thinking of where they give you the Q-tip followed by a shot. Not pleasant!!!!! Thanks for the input. I was wondering if throttle response changed with the race ecm. |

D snorkeling doesn't make any sense. Especially since the 06+ bike don't even have a hole in the frame there anymore. If anything the snorkel keeps the air cooler on it's route into the airbox. Also, if you do believe that you're able to pull more air into the box with no snorkel then you also will be putting less air on the rear cyclinder. The race ecm has more aggressive timing at lower rpm high TPS. It does make a difference. |

thanks for the info X-1. On de snorkeling...why was it part of Buell's hi-flow air filter mod? |

D snorkeling does make sense, especially since you have a 05 which I do as well. XL thinks that the heat from the frame raises the temp of the air coming into the box. That might b true but that has nothing to do with the left side air scoop directing air to the rear cylinder. If anything the snorkel blocks air moving towards the rear cylinder. |

Oh and on to your Q. The race ECM does make a difference. I have the "Race Kit" : K&N, no snorkel, race ECM, & race muffler. After you get your ECM do your TPS reset and enjoy. You'll notice an improvement in the butt dyno after 4.5k rpm. The drummer also helps with the dip in power from 3.8 - 4.5. The set up you have is a good one, if you wanted to get crazy you could tune your ECM to improve your mid rang power, but as is will still be a great improvement over stock esp in the higher rpm. |
