Well, After i broke the first one i was a little bit concerned about the belt. After a 650 km ride yesterday, i pulled into a gas station to fill up and noticed alot of extra fraying on my belt. I rolled forward and checked, and 4 cogs had vanished. I Slowly rode home, and did make it. It looks like the fraying on the outside from the belt touching the guard caused it to come apart and unweave in the middle. I have roughly 7500 km's on this belt. I show the fraying, much like what everyone else has, to the dealer before and they said not to worry about it. SO.. now.. Warranty? There is no visible chips or wear on the pulleys showing sign of a rock entering the belt area, and i have all belt guards on. And 2ndly, Why the hell did buell put a stupid belt on to begin with? All other real superbikes have chains for a reason, they work. Period. I'm tired of this. Time to call customer service. My bike just isn't holding up. From mirrors to turn signals to belts to STILL not having the reflash done in stupid Canada, and the time i have to wait for parts is horrendous. Time for a chain conversion asap |

Belts have lots of advantages and, for most, are a better option. I LOVE the belt, as it low maintenance, clean & has less slop than a chain. I also haven't had one fail in 32,000 miles of Buell riding between my XB and 1125r....my opinion might be different if one broke on me. |

I went from a Firebolt with a belt of course to a Speed Triple that had a chain. Got my 1125 in Aug and let me tell ya, I really missed that belt. No maint and most of all, quiet. All I heard when I rode the Triple was the chain. I shimmed the 25r guard right away after I read a couple threads about the belt fraying from possibly touching the guard. Haven't had any probs so far. |

I had some fraying in the first few hundred miles and read about the shims. had the dealer do it and have not had any problems since. |

I've broken two belts in 50K miles on my Firebolt... I still don't want a chain. I'd shim the guards and probably be done with it. |

Sorry D_buckle, but you are wrong. I live in AB and had the reflash done 2 weeks ago. |
