With all this talk about reflashes for the '08 models, I was wondering if any of the slightly older bikes have had any map updates? Sounds like the sub-4k range seems to be the biggest problem addressed with the new '08 maps, which is the same range my '06 Ss wants to act up...... ~SM |

Get the 07+ inner airbox, then get it reflashed to the 2007 maps Edit: I see you did the breather reroute, might as well get the open airbox since your already half way there. (Message edited by froggy on September 29, 2008) |

Hope this doesn't come across as a highjack, but l've always wondered what would be the advantage in doing the 07 re-flash as opposed to just buying the Race ECM? l thought the race unit was suppose to be the trick. l have an '06 Ss myself. |

The '06 Race ECM is a matched unit with the K&N filter and Race Muffler. The airbox mod and '07 flash was to fix the problem noted. |

I actually cut up my '06 airbox to replicate the '07, but I've duct-taped back over the holes to seal it off. I'll just take the tape off and try the '07 map. Mmcn49, you freakin' rock! Thanks a bunch! Hopefully that firmware number matches what I've got. ~SM (Message edited by Swordsman on October 01, 2008) |

LOL, well, I installed the '07 eeprom last night, but like a I got distracted by dinner and forgot to reset the AFV and TPS, and didn't test anything. I just assumed it would be close enough that I wouldn't notice much of a difference. WRONG! Was all suited up and ready to take off to work this morning, and when I fired the bike off, it would just barely run. Not spluttering, but just barely turning enough RPMs to keep itself spinning. Giving it gas made it splutter, and it was really sluggish. Doh! Stupid me. I'll reset the AFV and TPS tonight and see if that clears it up. I have another question though. When you "burn" an eeprom, what maps does that modify? Is everything changed, like the timing and enrichment and all that? I'm just curious if this new eeprom will overwrite all the previous tweaks. (BTW, the '07 firmware IS a match for my '06, so that's not the problem) ~SM (Message edited by Swordsman on October 02, 2008) |

The EEPROM is everything, you did the equivalent to physically taking out your ecm and putting in the one off a 07. Thats why your TPS is off now, as it is using the TPS value of whatever it came from. |

So, if l've got my stock '06 ECM who can do the '07 re-flash? Al at American Sport Bike? |

Need to find a willing dealer, most were doing it for free. Must have a VIN# from an '07 bike for them to do it(at least that was how it was done a year or two ago). |

Slamber, just go to that site Mmcn49 posted above and download the '07 EEPROM, then use ECMSpy to burn the file onto your bike. Easy as pie. No need for dealers to get involved. I fired it up tonight and discovered that my TPS was showing nearly 12% while the throttle was completely closed, so that probably had something to do with my problem. A TPS reset straightened everything out. We'll see how this new map functions tomorrow morning I guess. I went ahead and did the Xopti midpoint voltage trick and bumped the cold enrichment up a hair as well. Here's hoping! |

Maybe it's my imagination, but on the ride to work this morning, the bike felt like it had more mid- and top-end punch. Low end stumbling also seemed a bit accentuated, which is a bit of a bummer since that's what I was hoping to remedy in the first place. This morning was really cold though, so it may have been taking longer to adjust out than it has been. I'll keep an eye on it. ~SM |

Thanks guys. l'll look through the KV and see if someone here in WA state has the ECMSpy and if they would be so kind as to do it for me. l do have the VDSTS on my laptop, but that's it. l'm relatively happy with my Race ECM, but the missing at low RPMs is annoying and not a very good "poster child" for Buell when people hear it. ln a perfect world l can imagine a smooooth running XB with plenty of midrange/highrange power. Ah, yes - in a perfect world.
