99 X-1, still stuck on the fence. I love the bike and it's design, but I hate the reliability. Would I buy another? Probably not. |

Lurch, Tim, I think it is worthwhile to consider both satisfaction by bike and also by owner. One indicates the true level of problematic motorcycles, the other is more relevant to marketing. Personally I'm more interested in the per bike statistics. Dyna saying his wife is dissatisfied with her Blast because of its low power I think is disingenuous to the intent of this survey. I thought we were specifically addressing the reliability issue here. Tim has had the 2000 Blast for some time now, but he has no opinion. Seems to me some of y'all are not interested in contributing to an objective poll here. Current tally by bike sits at 103 satisfied and 30 unsatisfied. I didn't count JB2's parts bikes. I counted his S1 as an "unsatisfied". I didn't count Dyna's wifes Blast or Tim's Blast either way. Though it seems, reliability wise, they both warrant a "satisfied." |

Good call Blake. I didn't intend for the parts bikes to be counted. Your call on the S1. I can't say it gave me any problems I just never jelled with the bike. Ditto Ferris... I hate when that happens... shit! JB2 |

I looked at the thread again & nope it doesnt say reliability poll. It says Buell poll - satisfied/unsatisfied If she didnt like the low power..we definately thought it would have a little more get & go...then thats a dissatisfied. The wife quickly outgrew the lil Blast. After maybe a month she wanted to get rid of it. |

And you keep doing the totals by bike. Hows about adding them up by OWNERS. I dont care if you owned 10 Buells, you shouldnt get 10 votes. If 2 people in your household own Buells then thats 2 votes, if 1 person owns 5 Buells thats 1 vote. Obviously the owner who gets lucky with his first Buell is more apt to buy another. Why should his vote count more than those of us who have been burned the first go around & wont let Buell do it again? |

RE: that '99 M2. Bought it with just over 2000 miles on it. I had many small issues with the bike, and did ALOT of extra (compared to anything else I've owned) maintenance. I maintained that thing like an aircraft, Meticulous care and constant inspections. The inspections were nessisary and all to often led to repair. The good thing about that was the bike didn't break on me out on the road... for a while. I still loved the bike though, right up until the thing left me stranded, broke down, blew up, etc. five times in 500 miles. The two big ones were the transmission, then about 3 minor failures later, the engine let go. Bottom end. On the break-in ride after rebuild an electrical failure left me stranded. I owned it for about a year. |

Ok count me as at least 2 Satisfied votes (one entered at the start of the poll) since my wife likes her Blast. {So you didn't test ride a Blast and over estimated 30HP and that's Buell's fault?} |

Hmmm Interesting. Going strictly by owners & not machines I count 61 satisfied & 29 unsatisfied. That means with even a small batch of people as represented here a little over 32% are dissatisfied. Doesnt that strike you as a high amount Blake? I mean I know on the general board you claimed a resounding victory yet the numbers dont bear that out. If Buell were to sell bikes to 5000 people & 32% of the people were unhappy that is 1600 folks. Thats just in 1 yr too. |

Josh, we were also promised Buell performance kits were going to be available for the Blast. Obviously another lie. You sure you arent Blakes twin? BTW, we were the first people in the state to get a Blast & also the first people outside of Vance & Hines to get their new exhaust system. I am willing to give new things a shot, but sometimes it just doesnt work out. |

Blake, you're trying to skew the results, 'by the bike' is irrelevant. For instance, if you bought several bikes consecutively that you were not satsified with, wouldn't that be a failed I.Q. test? Paul |

Current tally by bike is 111 satisfied to 32 unsatisfied. Oh for Pete's sake, I'm not skewing anything; I'm counting the number of good versus bad bikes. I don't think that is irrelevant either, at least not to me. I mean weren't we talking about how many bikes had problems? Some respondents have had both good and bad. I'm personally much more interested in the bikes, not the owners; I've clearly stated in the tallies I've posted that they are "by bike." Anyone here is free to tally the results in any fashion they wish. And if you continue to bash my tallies, you are nothing but a tallywhacker. p Dyna, There are plenty of performance kits for the Blast. Aftermarket pips, Nallin Racing big bore kits, heck, put a turbo on it! "Obviously another lie. You sure you aren't Blake's twin?" Y'know, I really do try to be objective. I'm an old structural analyst for Pete's sake. When it comes to analysis, you can't get more objective than that. Maybe it's hard for you to understand, but I've put nearly 50K miles on Buells with no serious problems. But I don't go around blowing smoke over the reality of Buell's reliability issues. I'm getting a bit irked with comments like yours insinuating otherwise. When he made a similar disparaging comment, I challenged BrianH/Cecil on SacBORG to reproduce any statements where I had offered untrue or misleading information wrt Buell motorcycles. He failed to post another response to that thread, the "Demise of Buell" thread I think it was. I make the same challenge to you. Either show me where I am so ridiculously off base, or stop questioning my integrity. I've about had enough of that. |

Blake step back away from the keyboard for a minute. I kinda mashed my sentences there together. I was not insinuating that you were or are lying about anything. The comment about Josh being your twin was directed soley at the fact that he too likes to jump in with both feet to defend the Buell honor. Thats it, nothing less & nothing more. It stemmed from this comment of his.. "{So you didn't test ride a Blast and over estimated 30HP and that's Buell's fault?} " Thats something you would have posted. On the Blast subject, when we had one there was nothing out there at all. I was on the phone daily with Vance & hines waiting for thier first pipe. We were told Buell would have performance parts in "a couple months". We when we traded it in a yr later still nothing was available. |

Dyna, your rants are just becoming personal attacks on good Buell people. In fact, they make you sound like a right prat, but hey that's ok because it's quite entertaining listening to you bury yourself in a hole. As for your comment I don't care if you owned 10 Buells, you shouldn't get 10 votes.......so if YOU owned said amount of Buells, and seven of 'em were great but three were not, how vote you then %$&*head ? I'm with Blake on bike counts, but Vik makes a great point, and no not the bitching one ! Mark, us Brit's are all Alien when it comes to comparing with them there Yank's!!!! Remember, we talk a different language..........back on topic.... Rocket |

I see 2 useful ways to count: so IMO neither Blake and Dyna are incorrect as to whick is more useful, they're both viable, just have diferent purposes. 1. by bike- if it is or isn't reliable or what it is meant to be - for engineering, production and warranty purposes. 2. by consumer - would they buy again? - for marketing purposes If everyone doesn't quit tainting the integrity of the topics with the incessant fighting, I will commission a 6 year old kid to hack into BWB and obliterate your profiles. |
