I don't think this has been posted here yet. For next year the 1098 will become an 1198. With 170 HP. http://hellforleathermagazine.com/2008/09/2009-duc ati-1198-gets-bigger-e.html |

isn't that their response to the sanctioning bodies raising the cc limit for twins, such as WSB? |

Makes you wonder if there won't be a 1198 version of the Buell for 2010 for the same reasons. |

So what has the limit on cc been until the increase? |

I believe it was at 1000cc for all engine designs regardless of number of cylinders. WSB changed the rules to allow twins up to 1200cc's. |

Was just looking at the RSV4 pics elsewhere too. My attitude to these bikes is now complete yawn, big whoop, indifference. I'm not particularly interested in racing or in track days at all - and for road use they are a PITA. Literally and figuratively. If you are caught employing anything more than a third of their potential on the street it's instant disqualification. If someone gave me one I'd trade it on a new Uly tomorrow. |

If someone gave me one I'd trade it on a new Uly tomorrow. I would too. If I wanted a Ducati, I'd like one of the air cooled Monsters. |

I saw a flat black Monster 696 at the dealer today. If I wanted a Ducati, I'd like one of the air cooled Monsters, too! |

I was invited to the 696 launch - on the roads south of Sydney I grew up on - sadly declined - who had the nice gif of the monkey humping a football again? |

I forgot to say that 'Racing Dave' who covered the release was quite impressed with the machine |

I just rode the 1125R and this is not ducati's response to it. I know what it is like to ride a sport bike with 170 H.P. the 1125R will not compete with it. I am not trashing the 1125R do not think that i love the bike. It has great power That is all i could get from the Liberty demo it's power will not rival those high powered bikes. The only thing i do not like is it's herky jerky throttle response that would keep me from buying one. |

It must've been a new machine. Did you see the mileage? I know most pre-broken in machines will have a pretty herky jerky throttle. I didn't notice that the many times I've ridden the 1125. |

Wow,170 horsepower with a VEE-TWIN! Crazy Oversquare. That's impressive to me. The rules change was necessary for the same reason the XBRR1350cc raced with 600cc inline fours. |

mikef5000 it was off the buell demo truck only the 1125's were herky jerky the XB's were so much smoother. |

Bummer! Now that I think of it, I've yet to ride the 1125 on the street, just many demo's on a track. I know I could transition the throttle smoothily (unlike the RC8), but I bet the throttle would be more noticeable on the street. The Italians in response to the 1125R, "Le teste del formaggio stanno prendendo ancora a noi" Appatently it wasn't enough! http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/158 664/398590.html?1222359618 Shawn Higbee beat the 1098R (which is 1198cc) pretty handily on his 1125r. |
