'97 S1 - Not satisfied... Sold the bike. I was looking for a sporting twin that would satisfy my desire for twisty roads and occasional track days. I wasn't concerned with having a high powered race replica (Otherwise I would have bought an jap RR), but I did have certain expectations. During a two day session in Reg Pridmore's CLASS program I became VERY disillusioned. The bike got real hot, was puking oil (I was concerned about getting kicked off the track) and the tranny became real notchy (kept hitting way too many false neutrals) and I I was constantly dragging the kickstand. Banging the beast off the rev limiter all the time wasn't much fun either (granted this more MY problem than the bike's). It was a very cool bike, but the bike and I just didn't gel. So I sold it and bought a '94 Duc 900SS. The Duc is just as under powered (by modern inline four standards) and is a lot more fun in the tight stuff. The Buell experience was truly a love/hate experience. Of course, so will be the Ducati experience. Will I buy another Buell... The jury is still out. |

1998 S1 (purchased new off the floor June 2001). Currently there is 19075km on it and aside from minor problems(rear fender cracking, rocker box leak, shock recall & exhaust mount replacement) I am very very satisfied owner. I would love to have one for every day of the week. The dealer support has been excellent as well. |

'99 S3T - new - 17000 miles - unsatisfied. It is now relegated to "local play bike" status. Every trip has resulted in mechanical problems. And this is after being carefully rebuilt by Modesto, hands down the best Buell shop on the planet. Gregg Soon shopping for a reliable sport tourer, turning the S3 into a naked thrasher. |

Blake -- NOT FAIR TO COUNT BY MOTORCYCLES! motorcycles don't go out and buy more motorcycles... customers do. you can only be accurate if you are counting customers. |
