I am wondering if this is an issue with the bikes and not the signals? I plan on putting a set on my XB. I guess i will find out the hard way : )

Buellborn, thats the comment that got me all fired up. Im glad (but not glad) so many others are having the same problem. I knew it wasn't just my bike. I wish Buell could make some kind of statement.

Is there an email address for Buell?

BTW, I didn't win the lottery! : (

I am just curious, why did you have your front brake line replaced?

The front fender was cutting through the outer covering of the brake line. Might want to look at yours.

I am going to give this replacement set of stock turn signals one more try and if they die again I am going the aftermarket route.

My right rear LED indicators have failed twice with replacement by the dealer under warranty, then my left rear failed and replacement of the indicator did not resolve the issue. They had to dig deeper and to this date I still do not know what they found to resolve that issue.

Frustrated!!!

I just sent Robert (xblights) my burned out signal lights... he should receive within a couple of days, and hopefully he'll soon have a diagnosis and some possible cool aftermarket solutions.

Either he or I will post his findings as soon as he's done his thing.

Cheers,
Takis

I've got 1 burned & 1 working rear light for Robert as well. Just need to work out the details of when & where to meet so I can give them to him for his "development" work.

Well, my appointment was for yesterday but the directionals have not come in yet. UGH.
They did come in today and they let me replace them myself. Slap the new ones on, right directional works but the left does not!!!!! WTF!!! Tried swapping the wiring to the right side but it still wont work. Dead out of the freakin box!

I had enough, so I called Buell. I was told they are aware of the problem and that there is a fix coming soon. They couldn't give me any details of the fix or when it was coming out. So stay tuned everyone.

FYI a new rear LED signal ordered for my bike was DOA.

Also, during the repair they at first could not get the rear signals to work at all. Eventually they fixed it and, IIRC, mentioned something about a shared ground possibly being loose.

There also was an issue with my brake light not becoming brighter when applying the brakes. Basically I only had running lights. The service manager and I troubleshot the issue a bit and determined that the wiring was backwards. Reversed the wires and it's worked since...

The "backup" signal that the service mgr tossed my way ended up being dead too...have had no issues with the signals for about a month or 6 weeks...probably just jinxed myself now.

Okay...Okay...Okay! No wait just a damn minute!!!

As I previously noted above, I had my right rear fail twice and my left rear fail once. Yesterday, my left rear failed again. This has got to be costing Buell big money nation wide.

Now take into account all of the Buell 1125r owners. 2nd'ly factor in how many of them even know about this blog site and the deduce by calculations how many could be failing that we don't know about. This is a huge issue for SAFETY, INCONVENIENCE, FRUSTRATION and my very valuable TIME.

Buell really needs to step up and resolve this very annoying problem.

Just my 2.3 cents worth

I think my post regarding my left rear indicator was deleted. That is really messed up!

Who runs this site?

I guess freedom of speech and negative press is received as unfriendly and political.

Can't apologize, just want my turn signals to work and keep me safe. 4th time they have failed...

Pyrate -
Blake runs the site, he has a day job as a stress analyst(engineer).
Very rarely do posts get deleted. Once in a while they do get lost in the system and show back up in a few minutes.

Just take it easy, be calm and patient with your dealer and BMC, it'll work out.
If you don't feel confident of your OEM signals, always use hand signals in conjunction.

I understand your frustration, but the Shovelhead I had for 6 years didn't have ANY signals but my hands.
It can be done.

Further, the cagers just ignore (or more accurately just don't see!) the turn signals anyway.

They will not keep you safe.

Still, this is something BMC needs to take care of!

I would guess there are many people that visit here that want to learn more about the New Buells as we contemplate one for ourselves.

Something as simple as this and how long it takes to address is paramount for Buell to increase customer confidence/sales.

For all the retired people here that think its ok/normal/charming to return to dealers in between maintenance intervals is out of touch.

I empathize with the frustrated owners.

At the tone the year will be 2008, soon to be 2009.

My guess is that they had a bunch of the old ones in stock & were sending those out to deplete the inventory and appease owners while the problem was being corrected...

I've been trying to figure how to add.

I can only say it took from the first XBR model in 2003 until this past July10 to get a solution/acknowledgement of a problem to our defective headlights.

What makes anyone on this board think they'll get any better treatment?

You guys' are in for a VERY long wait while BMC sorts out their defective Vendor in Taipaing Ding-dang province China

Duc, It was 3 years since the first Uly rolled off the line to get wheel bearings issue resolved, so perhaps they are getting faster. Obviously the bike has to be out for some time so they can monitor and keep track of failures before getting to the root cause and coming out with a solution. Honestly I would say it was only about a year for the wheel bearings, as once it got their attention and 900 threads were made here, they started to work on it.

Yes, I returned home, logged on to find that missing post. So I guess the system did eat it and spit it back up. Thanks everyone for your reply and again Yes, I am frustrated...

I not only communicated my repeated visits to my service manager, but I got a case number from BMC at their 800 number. They told me they have no knowledge of any defective turn signal equipment on the 1125r. I found this very difficult to believe only based on my knowledge of the problem and this website.

The dealer currently has my XB12X Ulysses for it third warranty fan burn out issue, then I return to pick it up and deliver my 1125r for it's 4th visit for the turn signal issues. I think I will ask them to powder coat my pipe due to paint issues and replace my front brake line due to the front fender cutting into it.

Sounds adventurous eh!?

When I called buell the other day their techs did confirm the problem. There is a fix in the works. But ya, who knows when the fix will actually happen.

I took apart 1 of my dead directionals and noticed it was made in china. So that tells me that these parts are very cheap, in cost AND obviously quality.
