Barely contained aggression. Yes it has a flat torque curve, but the roll on is just silly. I'm at about 200 miles, and am having a hard time restraining myself. Went for a ride a lunch today, and took a trip out the causeway to Padre Island. On the way back, I hit a patch of no traffic, and, well, my restraint evaporated. Rocks right up to 130, where I backed off, but it was still just raging. Front end light, and wiggling a bit, but nothing unsettling. One question. Has anybody that has chosen to forgo the break-in process had any ill effects? I'm trying to be good, really I am, but it's kinda like having a supermodel in the bedroom all greased up and ready to go, and someone else telling you to go have a nice, civil conversation about the weather with her.

<sigh>

I'm going to get in so much trouble with this thing.....

That 6 tooth difference on the rear pulley must really make it more street worthy: )

I wouldn't chance skipping break-in. If you must tho, change the oil right away then go crazy. I got mine broke in up here in crap-tastic weather ohio in less than two weeks.

Here's the way I break in all my engines. Be it a lawn mower or a motorcycle.

Chad - I do something similar for break in - I get pretty heavy on the throttle, but I don't break the suggested RPM limits in the user manual (if I do not by much).

Reason being, ring pressure is pretty similar at 5000rpm WOT and it is at 10,000rpm WOT.

Cring - enjoy, and give 'er a good rip for me.

My bike was a demo and had approx. 100 miles when I bought it.

My salesman has a bagger but "grew up" on sport bikes and also went to an 1125 track day. From talking to him, I'm fairly certain he and a couple other guys "beat up" my 1125 before I bought it. Didn't seem to hurt it at all.

For my break in, I took it easy most of the time but really got on it a couple of times not paying attention to speed or rpm. I'd swear I've got street walker here that likes it hard. The more I get on it, the better it wants to run. Just seems to look up at me and say, "That's all you got"?

Usmoto, the problem with identifying improper break in is that the problems don't show up right away. It's more of a long term durability issue.

I think there's something to be said for doing hard on-offs for the first few hundred miles with a steady progression in top-rpms.
Seats the rings well.
Loretta's first 300 miles were mostly freeway 60 to 100mph and repeat.
I have a problem with the idea of flogging a new motor from day-one tho.
