Does anyone have any information regarding this blanket liner on the new 2009 models? I understand it exist, but want to know if any 1125r owner has gotten the manufacture or dealer to install it on the 2008 model under warranty? Don't know much else about it, so the many question exist. Will the dealer do it? Does it work? Is that a warranty job? Thank you | ||

The Heat shielding is somthing that you will have to pay for. Best time to have it done is when you have the valve adjust done around 12,400 miles. They have to rotate the motor down anyway so its the best time to have it done. So far from the info I have gathered there isn't going to be a recall/warranty for the shielding but it sounds like it should work pretty well. I dunno, when it comes to fuel heating, I'm all for letting it dissipate as much heat as possible... through the frame if necessary. Won't an insulator like this just increase fuel temps? It might be cooler on the outside, but on the inside...  | ||

I lined my the inside of the tank frame with Thermo tec heat barrier. The tank temps before were running 155-160'F before lining and after the highest the tank has hit is 138'F by the back header. temps measured with infared termometer. I also wrapped my headers at the same time. I had boiling gas almost everytime I drove it, lining the tank and wrapping the headers has helped. I cannot wait to get the flash tomorrow and see how that helps with the heat produced from the engine. | ||

If the shielding does insulate the frames interior surface from the engine heat it would not be a heat sink as it has been for the '08 model. Therefore it would not need to dissipate the heat it did not absorb in the first place.  | ||

Ok if the frame does not absorb the heat, then where does it go???? Hmm it has to go somewhere. Ekru: I had mine done Thursday and it does make a big difference. Don't know if it will cure your "boiling" but the drive-ability is MUCH, MUCH better. I did notice that the temp differential (at cruising) is now 90-100 deg versus pre-flash of 100-110deg. Xb9 added some water wetter to my system while he did the solenoid mod for me saturday, and It helps even more, another 3-4 degrees in coolant temps is what I've noticed. | ||

It seems to me that it would be wise for Bueel to cover the cost of the heat shield. One less thing for someone to complain about when someone asks them about the 1125. | ||

Darn and I just had my 12.4k mile service done!! Guess I'll wait for the next one in 6 months. BTW the heat still has to go somewhere. Anybody have an idea where it might be going when the heat shield is installed??? Watch out for what you wish for, it might come true and bring about other issues.  | ||

I don't care about the hot frame...that's what the Tech Spec skins are for...the boiling gas is a bit bothersome though. | ||

Today in the wonderful San Fernando Valley in So Cal, I was riding home in some unusually high temps. I think it reached about 92 or something like that. Well, when my bike reached 171 degrees, I heard the fans kick in, but my temp was rising instead of dropping. Hmmm! | ||

I know those fans are just soooo loud! I just go faster and turn up my Zumo if they bother me, what fans???? I showed AT=44 this AM, what fans? I had my Gerbing plugged in and my rpm's at 5k, I was all warm and fuzzy (oh sh!t, fuzzy means I forgot to shave LOL). Time4Work Neil S. | ||

There is a thread somewhere about a race team that made different scoops/pods etc. that allowed the removal of the fans and then redirected the hot air away from the bike thru exit ports on the sides of the pods. they claimed the bike ran 20'F cooler, didn't look like it would work in stop and go traffic, but it was an interesting design. Their parts weren't exactly cheap. I think it was something like $1200 for both sides total. | ||

Am I the only one who thinks the heat is a dead issue with the new re-flash? My garage doesn't reek of gas when I park it, can't hear any boiling or "hissing" from the vent and no gas on the muffler from the vent. | ||

Heat is almost a non issue, except for continuous city. However, the bike could use 12-hole targeted} fuel injectors, to deliver a finer fuel mist for more complete combustion | ||

My Fuel still boils and I still get some fuel smell on a hot day. |
