I got to demo a cr at Liberty on Saturday and I own a r (and XBSs). Looking at all of the 1125 versions side by, I think I like the white r the best but that's just a matter of taste. I might even get the white plastics for my r. I was disappointed to see that the cr's riding position is nearly identical to the r's. I personally think it was a tactical error to not supply the upright bars as standard and the clubman bars as an option. But Buell neglected to consult with me first! On the street the cr felt very similar to my r although it was better mannered down to 2500 rpm. We were led on the demo by HOG members so I couldn't do a really good test of acceleration or wheelie capability. I did notice that on the parkway at 6000 rpm or so in 3rd, the front would come up without too much effort. My r won't do it so easily. All in all I kind of liked the lower gearing for the kind of riding I do and I might consider changing the primary ratio if it's as east to do as an XB. |

I like the CR's position. I know I'm in a minority, but I like the sporting bar setup. Changing the gearing is not a primary change. It actually uses a different rear secondary sprocket. However, you won't be able to just slap on the different sprocket and call it a day - a very slightly longer swingarm and (obviously) a longer belt is used in order to keep the belt geometry in spec. I did notice that on the parkway at 6000 rpm or so in 3rd, the front would come up without too much effort. Was this playing with the clutch? Or just whacking the throttle open? God, I can't wait until mine gets in... |

X - That was just backing off and snapping the throttle. I don't have the balls (yet) to dump the clutch on this motor like an XB. Just rolling it on gently in first is scary enough! As for the seating position - I don't like either the r or cr, but that's not Buell's problem, it's mine. |
