So last night after sitting around the fire pit and drinking beers for to long. I was bored and started drawing up some muffler ideas. Here they are. I have no idea how well they would perform. I might try making one or two just to see how they perform and sound. The one thing they all have in common is the Xopti washer mod. Forgot to add the v shaped baffle in version 2.

Ok. Now that my hangover is just about gone. I started looking things over. In version #3 i'd have to eliminate the front jack plate. That's right about where the outlet would have to be placed. Plus I think I wouldn't put the outlet more than 1" inside the muffler. |

Ok. I have to ask.....does that timing cover turn signal light up??????? |

Nope, no light. But it was the reflector turn signal biscuit from a Harley FLH. Bolts right up after drill & tap. |

put the washer mod where the head pipe connects to the muffler... that way you can change the angle of it, to tune it like harleys do with straight pipes.. |

Been there done something similar. In my version a cherry bomb glass pack, was fitted within the stock can. Here's a very crude drawing.

$75 plus shipping to the first person that actually pays me for it. I don't know what the former owner was trying to do, but it's all there. I don't have time to screw with it. PM a shipping address. I take Paypal.

I can tell you right now what he did. That is a XB9 race pipe, he wanted to put it on a 12. The 9 has different headers, so he cut the end off and put the 12 one on so it can fit. Well that is my guess anyway. I am gonna dig up $75 so i can eBay that heap |

I think the 9 and 12 both have the same pipe size after the collector. G |

i don't drink, but after turning my own brain into bean-dip, i have a few questions. what is the logic behind using a single, giant muffler, as opposed to two smaller units? is there anyone out there making headers for the thunderstorm? would a longer header, with two smaller, lightly restricted mufflers, REQUIRE a new map? who does your hair? |

Collector diameter is the same on both. what is the logic behind using a single, giant muffler, as opposed to two smaller units? Scavanging. is there anyone out there making headers for the thunderstorm? At least a couple. Micron and TiForce both make a full head to exhaust tip system. There are also at least 2 aftermarket headers I can think of. would a longer header, with two smaller, lightly restricted mufflers, REQUIRE a new map? Any change to the exhaust would likely warrant a new map. If you're thinking is to keep each cylinder seperate, you're going to loose the scavanging affect, which is a bad thing in most cases. |

Scavanging. ok, how about 2-1-2 ? At least a couple. Micron and TiForce both make a full head to exhaust tip system. i've seen the micron. the header looks right, but $800+ and i don't want the can. There are also at least 2 aftermarket headers I can think of. link? name? bad pic? anything? please? If you're thinking is to keep each cylinder seperate i'm thinking twin Hookers, chrome and all. i even have the little baffles. a little dash of shiny should look good under all that black. Mark knows what he's saying i guess you're right...he was smart enough to ignore the hair question... |

link? name? bad pic? anything? please? XB9/12 RS-402 45mm Equal Length Header Pipes This is the only one I know of you can buy without a muffler. From Trojan (Matt) one of our sponsors. www.trojan-horse.co.uk |

ok, how about 2-1-2 ? A 2-1-2 will still scavage, so you're covered there. link? name? bad pic? anything? please? http://www.trojan-horse.co.uk/prods/84.html I'm not sure of a domestic supplier as I've never had to look for one... I feel like Force builds an XB header as well but I can't find anything on it. i'm thinking twin Hookers, chrome and all. i even have the little baffles. a little dash of shiny should look good under all that black. I'm still not sure which mufflers you want to use... In any case, just keep in mind that longer to can make the primary tubes before the collecter, the beefier you can make the lower range torque (to an extent). |

Thank you, Glitch, beat me to it. One other note on those headers, with the current exchange rate, you're looking at over $1000 for just the header pipes. |

Perhaps you should ask "what do i want my pipe to do for me?" before inventing new ones. Most all pipe designs (even inebriated ones) work well, but only for one single specific thing. Building a pipe that does just 3 things right is extremely rare (i.e. the Micron). Sound/tone peak horsepower wide-range horsepower Sound/volume peak torque wide torque volume vs. flow weight aestetics reliability cost ease of installation Scavenging and all that fits into several areas, and remember, each bike/engine/rider/location is different, and so there is no "right" pipe for everyone. So, what do you want the Drunkenpipes, Inc. muffler to do? I prefer a good old-fashioned crack pipe, m'self. |

I'm not saying that these are mufflers that I would build. I'm no engineer in the least bit. I do not understand flow, volume, diversion.....etc. It was just a little bit of the bench racer in me coming out after a few drinks. I've been a Ford technician for the past 16 years. Been around a lot of race cars and hot rods. Hell the owner of the dealership I work at is currently running a nitro funny car. Loud cars and bikes have always been a part of my life. I just thought it might be cool to post them and see what people say. Hell maybe someone on here with the proper knowledge and education might clue me in on how to fix/better my designs. I'm sure when Kevin came up with the idea for the Drummer he nailed it the first time he made. lol. It was a thought turned reality with a lot of testing, tuning, and modifying to make it what it is today. These ideas were never put on here to be used as actual blue prints for some super horse power building, do it all muffler. Take them for what they are just some drunken bench racers ideas. So stick that in your crack pipe and smoke it (Message edited by tattoo72 on September 22, 2008) (Message edited by tattoo72 on September 22, 2008) |

thanks for the pics and links chrome Hookers, circa 197?. they need a good cleaning, but there's no damage.
if you squint one eye, and imagine with the other, they line right up with the micron header, look great, and even sound sweet. however, this method of engineering has caused trouble in the past, so i thought i'd try to find a few clues here before i started hacking on stuff. |

Nice fab work!! But get ready to be flamed. I'm sure one of the d!ck heads on here will tell you your an idiot for trying something outside the box. Or for trying to make your own stuff and not buying a muffler from one of the sponsors. I bet it sounds real good. |

Here is the other side for reference:
The tire tucks in nicely between the turnout ends of the chopped pipes. |
