well, i just got in with 24 miles on reserve. no premium anywhere (only 2 stations in town even have regular). i guess my wings are clipped til the magic juice starts flowing again! hopefully soon! | ||

My folks live near Fletcher, they said the same thing you just did. I guess they'll be driving the truck for a while, it's not near as picky about what grade to use. | ||

Yea, same in the Augusta Ga area, tried five stations near the house tonight and none had any fuel. The wife said a station near the interstate still had gas. What a hassle. | ||

The gasoline supply for the Atlanta, Georgia area and some of the South East is piped here, to Atlanta, from those refineries. With the refineries shut down and the power out, we are using what is in the fuel farm. A guy on the news said that the supply would last somewhere between ten to twenty days. Panic set in with word of the refineries and pipeline being shut down. People lined up and filled up at inflated prices. Now we are faced with many gas stations out of gasoline. | ||

I left the house yesterday on the bike showing 150 miles on the tank. I knew I would have to get gas but I had to go to work (south) first and then make it to my daughter's soccer practice (north), I'm the coach. As I got to work my reserve light came on. I knew I had enough to get to the town closest to the practice field so off I went. As I get to the gas station I find out they are out of gas. Now with 25 miles on reserve the situation became interesting. I ride the four miles to the practice field where I meet the wife and kids. After practice I had the wife ride further north to find gas. It took four gas stations to find gas and all they had was premium. I filled up and rode on. Later in the day I we had plans to meet up with some C3'ers here at the house. I have to ride out about 20 miles to meet up with them to show them the short cut to the house avoiding Greenville traffic. Leading them out I found a gas station with only regular and premium, so with only 80 miles on the tank, I filled up again. This is crazy. We need to set up off shore drilling on the Alantic coast and set up some refineries here too. It seems we have too many eggs in one basket. | ||

Is there an octane booster that could be used with the lower grades? Just to get by for a few tanks. I've seen what I thought to be bike specific stuff at the dealers. | ||

For those here with 9s they will run on reg. There was a thread on here several years ago about it. Seems the 12s have to run premium. I tryed a tank just to know and no spark knock. still I run premium the cost diffrance is not much, but I would run reg in a heartbeat if thats all I could find.  | ||

Today, here in Iowa,local gas is $3.38 for the 10% ethanol crap and $3.55 for 87 octane. I have to get premium 20 miles out..all the time.I filled a couple of mower cans so I have two weeks worth of work rides if push comes to shove.Just like most folks, I am screwed if I can't get to work(24.5 miles). I am sick and freaking tired of this gas price crap being my #1 bitch with the world........../ | ||

The dumbasses brought a shortage down on themselves. Time and again the news told everyone to just continue their normal routine and things would go off without much of a hitch. Prices would go up, but the supply would be okay. So what do they do? They panic anyway, and the people that normally wouldn't need gas for a week ran out and filled up every vehicle they own. And then they're all proud of themselves for outsmarting a shortage that they caused in the first place. Bah! people are stooopid.  ~SM | ||

At least there's some good news. The refineries seem to be ok, only a loss of power. Also there were only 10 oil platforms destroyed, as opposed to the 100 due to Katrina. Looks like we'll recover from this one a little earlier. Bah! people are stooopid. Yup, but what ya going to do?  At least some of the stations here have limited you to 10 gallons or less. | ||

Ike has also affected FLA. In downtown Tampa the other day I saw $4.50 for reg. unleaded. It was said on the news that 550 calls have been received about price gouging. | ||

SM - Same exact thing happens here every winter when a snow storm is projected to come. Now, I live in the Northeast - where I live, getting inches of snow at a time is MILD. But if a "storm" is predicted to drop 3 inches of snow, there are lines at the gas stations and the grocery stores are jam-packed with people trying to stock up bottled water and ramen noodles. It's all readyy funny to me. Me? I like to get my gas and do my grocery shopping during the storm - less people out and about. | ||

I ride my bicycle past 3 gas stations on my way to work and back home....I DID have to eat an extra banana this week due to the heat...I hope there is no shortage...  I do agree about "the sky is falling" attitude that I have seen in the last week. The price gouging has been terrible. Folks should be ashamed. | ||

I bought 87 octane 10% for the truck yesterday at a Hess station. Paid $3.65 a gallon. That is the western side of the Tampa Bay area. There doesn't seem to be any shortage here. | ||

Xl1200R... you should see what happens here (South East) when the news says it might snow. And when I say it might snow, I mean there is a slim chance we will get about 1 inch of snow, which will melt off by lunch time. Everyone freaks out, runs to the store and buys all the bread, eggs, and milk they can. I call it "French Toast Snow". It's like these people think that if the snow does fall, they will be trapped for weeks. | ||

one station finally got some premium in a few minutes ago! i hurried back down there and got my 2.9 gallons. now, it is full again, and i am off the rest of the day, but i am too stingy to go for a ride and burn the stuff! at least i can if i decide too. | ||

Think yall have it bad... ONE station (BP) was open FRIDAY near the interstate out of (4) stations.. GAS PRICE = $5.99 a gallon REGULAR Now that SUCKS.... especially when you own a SUBURBAN  Its ok though.... we set them straight with a sign copy of the Govenors Orders on price raping. Things are fine in Columbus, Georgia... gas everywhere. No problems out in the sticks, either. Business as usual except prices are higher...but diesel is getting cheaper for some reason. | ||

Here it was 4.09 per gallon, no matter the grade. Go figure. There are a lot of places are limiting to 10 gallons at a time. | ||

well, i had to go burn some of it! i went down one of my favorite twisty roads, and back up to the blue ridge parkway. it was pretty near dark when i got on the brp, no traffic at all. i came around a curve and a ranger is sitting there with the lights all going, and a rollback in the edge of the road. he is winching a touring type motorcycle back up a humongous dropoff. even worse, there are a bunch of large trees. no rider in sight. i hope he is alright. they were just hooked to the front wheel of the scoot, dragging it back up. THAT will get your attention! shortly i met another rollback, and about 5 or 6 goldwing types headed back up there with their flashers on. at least maybe someone knew he went over shortly after it happened. |
