Maybe not the solution you're looking for, but I replaced my taillight with an integrated run/stop/turn LED unit from XBLights.com. Robert's a sponsor and he does EXCELLENT work at a decent price. No problems with my directionals... Z |

Zac - do LEO's give you flak about the integrated turn signals? How visible is the turn signal when the brake light is on also? I'm either going to get and XBLight tailight or go with Rizoma Track-77 turn signals. |

Zero problems. Mine is the first one Robert made for an 1125R, got it in January. Visibility is GREAT! I have stood back to see it and the directionals are very bright and impossible to confuse left/right. I strongly recommend his lights, he will make any pattern you want also. He made a pretty spiffy unit for Baggermike with a blue LED in the center(old school blue-dot) and a cross for the running lights... Z |

I just put a full set of these on my XB http://www.maxspeed-motorsports.com/turnsignals.ht ml VERY FINE lights. Expensive, yes, but if you want turn / running light LED sig's - they're the only game in town... I know, I know, I know - the stock signals should work. Just consider these a really good alternative slash upgrade. |

Wished we could get Robert to do a running light turn signal conversation on the stock 1125R turn signals? |

I would never get an integrated brake/turn signal setup..you just can't see 'em. That is definitely choosing form over safety. We all know riding is dangerous enough without HIDING your turn signal from a cager that doesn't care in the first place. One of my riding buddies has that type of setup and I can't stand it...I KNOW what to look for and sometimes I miss his signals...just my opinion on the subject of course. |

Nothing against you guys with the integrated tail/signal lights, but I agree with Fresnobuell. I saw a unit on a bike at night, and while it was bright, I do not think there is enough separation between the two lights. Even complicated more, when the brake is applied, especially during the day. As I understood it (each state may differ)there were laws stating how far apart the signals had to be on a motorcycle. I like the LED tail light, but without the turns included. |

>>>WTF kind of cheap vendor did buell get these things from????? It appears to be an AMAZING vendor . . . how cool is it that they can make 10,000 motorycles and somehow single your's out? Statistically. . . .do the math with me here. . . . . you are about a 1 in a 34,550,000,000 chance. If I were you I'd buy a lottery ticket. In all seriousity you DO (I hope) understand that something, unique to your bike, is making these fail right? Court |

Sorry. I'm with Court on this one. Multiple failures on the same bike indicate something more than random failures...or you SHOULD buy a lottery ticket! Replacement with an aftermarket system isn't (IMHO) addressing the real problem, which I'm thinking is bike related, not signal related. I'm seeing a lot of posts on this blog that deal with eliminating symptoms and not really solving a more deeply-rooted problem (like a trickle charger when the battery dies all the time. WHAT??). I feel the pain of those having issues, even though I haven't experienced failures (yet), but I'd personally try and debug the situation, or have the dealer cover it with something other than a thank you for the repeat business. |

|>>>Thanks mr.sarcasm. Me? . . . dude . . look in the mirror! You have an attitude. I go out of my way . . .spend upwards of a grand a month of my own $$ and will argue with HD top management to help a Buell owner (including the one I got a $1,000 check for his hotel when a bearing went out last year) and the 3 I spoke to on the phone today (all solved pronto) but when I read stuff like that . . . even I want nothing to do with it. As you live and grow someday you're going to hear someone tell you "it's all about attitude". When they do, listen carefully. |

I vent some frustration about a below par product and what do you say? All you can do is throw in some outrageous number and say play the lottery. So what does that say about you? It says you're just here to dish out sarcasm and be an a$$hole. |

Perhaps Fireman4u has a bit of an attitude, but from what I've read on different threads here there are definitely more than a couple people having the same type of problems with signals. I've been lucky so far but, I don't even have a thousand miles yet and everything okay(unless tail light bulb counts). I know if it was me I'd be a little disgusted after a few times. Hopefully, it will get straightened out. |

Hopefully, it will get straightened out. You know what? There's one person on this entire board that can, and does, work miracles in these situations. If I were having problems that my local dealer couldn't/wouldn't solve I'd kindly ask that one person for some help (I've actually done that too, so it's not hyperbole, but fact.) If I were to call him an "a$$hole" I strongly suspect that it wouldn't help my cause much. YMMV. G2 |

I'm sorry as much as I think Fireman4u is out of line the response he got saying the problem was specific to his bike is an assumption as well. Sure he threw out some unfounded hyperbole but so did his respondents. Seriously do a search. I went back 120 days and found the threads below. Also my 1125R is in the shop for a left turn signal, chaffed front brake line, leaking neutral switch and peeling paint on the muffler. These are all minor issues. I lucked out and while it is there it should get the ECM flash as well. Now if I start having multiple failures on turn signals I will probably go aftermarket. The main reason is having to wait a week to ten days to get the parts in. Now I would hope that Buell has some decent contract with the supplier that will reimburse them for excessive failure rate. Because if this a proper sampling this could cost someone a lot of money. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/290 431/385876.html http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/290 431/389136.html http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/290 431/368045.html http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/290 431/384371.html http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/290 431/393433.html http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/290 431/374743.html |

I think I read somewhere that LED bulbs don't like power surges. Might be worth looking into. My back turn signal went out 1 time so far. If it goes out again I will be looking into the surge idea. Fireman4u, you could connect a Fluke87 meter to the leads that go to the rear turn signal, set it to min/max and it will capture the max voltage it sees. I would drive it around normally with it connected to see what happens. If it does spike then the next problem would be to find out what a normal power spike is. Good luck with that! Hope this helps. |

I don't think you can brag about what 'great' customer service you provide while you are berating one at the time. Why should a customer bow apologetically when he has paid for a product and gets upset when it fails. But kissing should not be required to get it right. |

To reiterate my own experiences, so that Fireman4u isn't perceived as a rare case: My rear left turn signal went out. I replaced it, at my own cost (we're talkin' almost $50!). The replacement burned out shortly after along with the right rear turn signal (on the same ride!). I can understand his frustration. The turn signals are a safety issue, and Buell needs to address it. Maybe it's a spike in current or defective LEDs... it needs to be figured out and dealt with by Buell. Ok, first off, this forum is all about discussing Buell's. Whether it be problems, mods, rides or whatever. It is an awesome source of information. So that means you have people discussing their problem with their bikes. Im no different. NOW, with that being said, I started this thread because of this LED problem. So, now, bigdaddy, you can threaten me all you want, I dont care, BUT, do you seriously think I deserve a response like court made???? It was totally disrespectfull to me and the purpose of this forum. Im sorry but im not going to sit back like a little b*tch and let anyone talk to me like that. Ya, some of you may think I was out of line but I think court was also. So what if im new and some of you have a million posts, its totally irrelevant IMO. Im a Buell owner and been a bike rider for 28 years and im not new to forums. Bottom line is I was disrespected first, BUT, since court has more posts than me its ok right? Now, back to the subject of this thread. Chevycummins, I appreciate that good idea. I do have a fluke meter, I was using it when my first directional died to make sure it was getting voltages. I will try you're idea to make sure its not getting any kind of surges. Now I guess ill go get my lottery ticket. :P Scott |

Pariah, I would contact Buell and look for a refund on your $50 as that signal should have been replaced under warranty. My left rear has gone out twice and my right has gone out once. I believe these failures are rampant as my dealer didn;t even do paperwork on the last two as he told me that Buell was sending the replacements to him without paperwork....he even threw me an extra just in case. Court, don't understand your math, but I can say that these signals do indeed have problems... |

Bottom line is I was disrespected first, BUT, since court has more posts than me its ok right? I don't think it was about Court having a million posts. It was about you burning bridges. In case you haven't yet figured it out, Court has some VERY important connections at BMC and if there is one person on Badweb that can help you out either as an individual or as a group, he is the one. I have only been posting on here for a few months and already have seen numerous examples of how he will go out of his way to help someone get their bike fixed at no cost to them whether it has warranty left or has been out of warranty for years. I have also seen many times where the end users (we riders) have experienced common problems and failures of our machines and Court has stepped up and approached BMC about it leading to a fix (see Firebolt headlight recall). Now, exactly how much pull he has in the company is beyond me, but from what I have gathered in my short time here, it is a LOT!!! Just an FYI. |
