Looking to buy some heated grips or heaters to put on or under my grips. I saw some that slip over the grips and come off when you dont need them anymore but i dont remember what they were called. What have you guys had success with? Torque |

Polly grip heaters. They ROCK- hidden install, nothing moves, no exposed wires, only $21 from denniskirk... Check out this thread, where I asked your same question recently and got lots of good answers and eventually just bought the Polly grips (for my Lightning and my gf's Blast). I also posted a step by step on my install: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/cgibin/discus/disc us.cgi?pg=next&topic=32777&page=392427 |

Andymnelson Does that switch you put in have three positions or is that merely a on off and you mounted the high low somewhere else? |

I just bought the single "speed" version of the heaters- they are just on or off, as is the switch. I wasn't sure of this, but now that I've used them a bit I find that I either want them on or off and it's ok. They do get hot tho! So a low setting would be nice...the 2 position set are only like $8 more. |

I bought the switch at NAPA- They carry a 2 position switch as well. A word of caution- I did NOT run any current-carrying wires up to the switch! The wires run to it merely trigger a relay- see my install post linked above. I will gladly help anyone with questions on wiring relays- I'm a First Class MECP certified mobile installer (my previous life..). |

Gotcha, no problem on wiring relays, as I service Xray equipment. I just dont have room left behind the fly screen, I put HID on and put the ballast' behind there. |

Ah yes- tis a bit cramped for you then! The heaters do not draw as much current as I expected- only 1.5 amps each (this would be the draw when on high for the 2-position model). A much smaller relay would work- the ones I have a bucket full of are 30 amp. I like over-wiring stuff however, keeps my wiring from ever being the culprit! |

I'm kind of ticked that I just bought the Buell heated grips... these look like a much cleaner install... |

As much as I want to support American Sport Bike (and do, whenever possible), they are over priced at $47 and they are the kind that go over the handlebars and not inside- an inferior design IMO. |

I would have to agree with Andymnelson on the inferior part, I have had those kind on my dirt bike and the wires always tend to brake on the throttle side. Andymnelson, I will just use a really small relay off of some old xray equipment and it should fit just fine. I might add the control to these heaters and then i would be able to fully control the output. |

Well, they used to be $30. and I know cycle gear sold them for $30 as well. same kit if I remember right. Personally they are the best design out there. but thats just my 2 cents |

Polly has a motorcycle specific kit that runs slightly cooler than the snowmobile kits. This is a good thing because the slightly cooler motorcycle kits are freaking HOT on low and painfully HOT on high unless it's 35 degrees or colder. I hear the snowmobile kit's two settings are "Ouch" and "call a burn specialist". The inside the handlebar installation creates a wonderfully clean look. Looking at the bike, if not for the switch you'd never know my grips are heated. |

I was thinking about running a 2 position switch and inserting a resistor inline with one side...effectively giving me a low setting. Maybe even resisting both sides so that they are not so dang hot! |
