i'm trying to change the transmission fluid in my '01 blast. the drain plug backs right up to the exhaust when i try to remove it. any idea what i'm doing wrong? the plug looks kind of odd like a bolt with a spacer and a nut between the bolt head and the tranny. i know it sounds crazy but i'm not sure what to do. any help is appropriated.

What is the blast primary chain tensioner setup? Are you trying to remove the tensioner instead of the drain plug?

On my old M2, you could *barely* get the drain plug out without removing the exhaust. Getting it in was harder, but strategic use of a butter knife (when the wife wasn't looking) would do it.

Farris - I think Reep is right, you're trying to remove the primary chain tension adjuster. The transmission oil is drained via the other bolt that down there.

You have to adjust your primary chain tension now, but you needed to do that anyway, so it isn't a big deal. There is a procedure for doing it w/o the inch-pound torque wrench somewhere on this site.

The spacer was supposed to be removed at the 1000 mile service when the primary tension was adjusted. It sounds like the bike has never had it's 1000 mile service.
