Argh, yet another Buell sighting from within my work truck. I gotta start working less and start riding more.

This was a black Firebolt with both headlights on. The rider was wearing a black jacket with a blue helmet. Rider was heading west out of the Venice, Ross area on Cincinnati Brookville Rd (1-26). The time was around 3:45 - 3:50pm.

I'm planning a trip in Kentucky and was wondering if you could help me out (not sure if you all have rode around this area or not). We plan on taking 62 from Maysville to Cynthiana and then taking 32 from there. Since I have never been on these roads I was hoping I could get a little feedback. I heard (from a cager) 32 may not be the best road to take , and instead follow 62 the whole way to Lexington. What do you guys think?

Thanks for your feedback!

The title of this thread caught my eye. I'm new to the Cinci area. Yesterday I traded my HD in for an 08 UlyXT. Just looking to connect with some other Buell riders in the area. Thanks.

The XT is pretty sweet, very nice getting back to a bike that feels "right" in the twisties. What are you riding?

Nice Firebolt, is that your garage? How do you like your exhaust? I'm pretty new to the aftermarket stuff that's out there for Buell. I'm still trying to figure out how to order a t-shirt off from the Buell website.

My Firebolt had the race kit already on it when I got it, so i've had nothing else to compare it to. I do like it though, it's loud enough to get noticed, it sounds like a sportster with aftermarket pipes. The bike is pictured in the back room in my house, when we don't store the Hot Rod in there I get to bring my bike in. There's a large closet in that room that I store my bike in for the winter....lol.. Aces and Eights, a Harley dealer near Kings Island sells Buells as well, they can get you parts and apparel. I've dealt with them before, not service just parts, and they are good people.

Really sweet set up Dennis. I'm new to the area, a military relocate. I bought my XB over at Eastgate. Not great on parts or apparel, but long on customer service. Pretty interesting since I was trading in a HD for a Buell. I'll have to check out aces and eights for apparel even though they neglected to respond to my offer to trade in the 05 Deuce for another bike. I can't say enough about the sales folks over at Eastgate. Good deals and patient folks. I took my three kids and wife over there when we were working the deal and fingerprints on the bikes(in the show room)/suckers for the kids wasn't an issue. Very relaxing environment. Glad I bought the bike from those folks!

None of the dealers in the area carry much of anything for the Buells. Everything is pretty much special order, but Aces and Eights did have some stuff ie. batteries, grips, pegs, and other misc stuff. I haven't been over to Eastgate for a few years. I like to go to Gatlinburg every year ,and stop in at Smokey Mtn. Harley/Buell in Marysville. That's a very big dealer, they even offered a test ride on an 1125r when I was there. I'm glad your Buell experience is good thus far. You'll find the BadWeB full of usefull information as many of us service our own bikes.

Not quite in the area, but F&S on the far side of Dayton has decent stocking. Much better then Aces and Eights... who at one point made me wait a couple weeks for brake pads. >: (

I'm planning on meeting a buddy down in Gatlinburg in Oct for a weekend of riding with the ladies. We'll have to check out the Smokey Mtn Harley/Buell folks down there, thanks for the tip.
I haven't been up to Dayton thus far (new to the state) but I'll check out the F&S location when I get up there. Where do you guys ride out of/favorite routes to ride?

If you stop into Smokey Mountain HD/Buell, ask for Brad (Squids86129 here on BadWeB). If it's the first week of October, he'll be in the north GA Mountains for Buelltoberfest.

YIKES! Everybody OK out there?

Lebanon Ohio effectively had a catagory 1 hurricane this afternoon... sustained winds in the 70 mph range.

No storm surge, but all the other good parts. People in our subdivision lost a good 1/3 of their roofs. I lost a roof vent, and was crawling around on my roof in 70 mph winds tacking down siding trying to keep it from being peeled off. I couldn't go out in the yard without eye protection, too much crap blowing everywhere. Neighbors glass patio table launched a couple yards over and exploded on impact.

Most of Cincinnati is still (AFAIK) without power.

A neighbors big heavy anchored playset (fort and slide and all) got lifted up and flipped over, and exploded on impact. 4x4 redwood beams sheared flush.

Yikes! I *can't* imagine what that would have been like if a storm surge was eroding from below while the winds were eroding from above... it would be awful.

Anyway, hope everyone is OK. I patched up the roof vent and it should hold for a while. Managed not to fall off the roof.

On the updside, the neighbor showed up with a sparkly new (used, but you would not know it) CR50 in the back of his truck. His daughter took a 5 minute look at it, and ran away terrified, my 8 year old proceeded to jump on it, and ride it in gale force winds for the next 4 hours. We had to peel him off it (as it should be). We are going to have some *very* cool trips coming up! : ) : ) : )

So I hope everyone is OK! Hurricanes in Lebanon... whoda thunk!?!?!

Not me...Glad you and your family are ok. It's amazing how far reaching these storms can be. Sounds like your 8 year old had a great time on the 50. Our kids love our little 50.

I need to trade in the 9sx on an XT, so he can be with me in Franklin next year. He would totally get it... all the way to smoking cigars with Jim A outside the hotel. He thinks they smell bad, but sits out with me on the porch anyway. He gets it (and I am more interested in the porch then the cigar anyway).

Jim gave me all the leftover cigars... much better ones then I would buy for myself. I have one left... the "the KLR is running again" cigar. I think it's time to smoke it...

Hope your family didn't have any major damage!

We just had a few big tree limbs come down. One knocked our fence over, but Carlos fixed that with little effort. We were out of power for about 6 hours, but we cranked on the generator and had coffee, TV and DTV. Life was OK.

We are looking forward to Franklin next year. Bring all the family. We'll find something to do while you guys ride. I'm with your son on the smell of cigars...not my thing, but Carlos enjoys them on such occasions as Franklin, March Badness, etc.

I just got power...long night and day. I had a lot of trees down and a lot with damage that needed cut the rest of the way down. I also had some shingles disappear. I have three very large burn piles. My dads house in Hamilton didn't fair very well either. He lost half of the shingles on his roof and the majority of his fence fell down.

Dennista,
Sorry about the damage out your way. We go power on earlier today, I've been out all day with the chainsaw helping the neighbors dig out (and adding to my woodpile). Good news is that my office won't have power until Thursday at the earliest so I'll be working from the house! Got lucky on the storm, no damage to the house. Everyone else fare well?

Devil's Staircase hill climb this Sunday.

Plus, the coolest collection of bikes you'll ever see in the same location in Cincinnati at the pre-hillclimb meeting spot:

The Alley Shop 8am-12pm

Hi There,

I am moving to Zinzinnati from Italy for a couple of years. I'd like to get myself a XB9S or XB12S so I am looking for mates and suggestions. I had a test run here in Italy last week and I am really happy with the Buell feeling. Cool.

If I can I'd like to post a few questions here.

Where do you suggest me to look for a good used XB around Cincinnati area? I'll need also to buy other gear (helmet, protective stuff etc... etc...). Again, where?

I shot a mail to 3 Cincinnati/OH HD dealers (no answers so far) to have an idea about long term rentals (if possible, otherwise I will have to resell the bike after 2 years) and prices.

I do not know anything about bikes in USA (insurances, licenses, best places to buy stuff, etc...). I am reading the forum to have more clear ideas on the subjects so I beg your pardon for those very basic questions. I'll post more questions in the appropriate sections.

Gianluca (waiting for the visa)

Hmmm... three now huh? Let me check.

Ah. They are lumping F&S in as the third dealer. Makes sense.

All three have given me good service at one time or another. F&S is the best in terms of stocking parts, ordering parts quickly, and getting things right. But it's the furthest. All three would probably be fine to buy a bike from, or even have them repair it. It's when I get my own parts for my own repairs that I have had minor but annoying issues.

The dealer will help you take care of all the plates and such if you go through them.

If you buy from a private seller, you just have to go to get a title signed in front of a notary public (easy to find them, one at most banks), then take that title to the DMV (department of Motor Vehicles) and pay for registration and plates. A few steps, but there are lots of DMV offices around and it is all straightforward.

Craigslist.com and cycletrader.com would both be good places to search for used bikes.

Nobody is going to rent anything, particularly for that long. Just buy something, and sell it when you are ready to leave again. Buy a 2007 XB12SS, or a 2009 XT, so that you can sell it to me cheap when you leave : )

Welcome!

If you get a valid motorcycle license, and sign a paper promising not to sue me, I'll let you take my KLR-250 out to BigRock and spend a day riding off road in beautiful rural Kentucky...

Every motorcylist should spend at least a little time off road. You learn a lot about how and what a motorcycle can do.

Buon Giorno! Welcome to Cincinnati. It has been some time since I was last there, but Eastgate Harley Davidson-Buell seems to always have about ten shiney new Buells in their show room. Many of them leftover 2007 or 2008 models that are deeply discounted. If you are considering buying used, you can check out the classified section here on Badweb, or try www.cycletrader.com Both sites had some very sweet deals last time I looked. And if you are looking for some great pasta and a glass of wine, or maybe a Moretti, go to Bearici's in Silverton, OH. Ciao!

I had a look on cycletrader ... good. I spotted a couple of bikes reasonably priced.
