This one looks like trouble! I used to live in Houston, and saw some of the most amazing storms there. I hope no one gets killed, but if I were there, I'd get the hell out of town.
There are some incredible satellite photos in this link. http://www.universetoday.com/2008/09/11/satellite-iss-images-of-hurricane-ike/ (Message edited by hexangler on September 11, 2008) |

No wonder oil prices have been at a 3-4 month low, but gas is going up to 4.00 a gallon again. Thanks Ike! |

This one could be ugly. They are talking about some HUGE storm surges. They could flood downtown Houston. Yikes! |

Currently downgraded to a lvl 2 when it hits coast, lvl 1 when it goes over Houston...not good but much better than hitting the coast as a 3. Still a while out so things could change. |

I live up here in east TN. A week or so ago, I had a nightmare about seeing water lapping up underneath the windows of my house. I rarely have nightmares- this one gave me the willies! Good luck to all y'uns out there in Tejas... |

Cowboy, Local TV in Orange was showing the Sabine River starting to flow backwards as the storm surge is pushing inland. Might fill Toledo Bend way up!!! Wind is 35 sustained with 55 MPH gusts coming through here between Beaumont and Port Arthur TX. I will pray for the people in Galveston and the Bolivar penisula. Craig |

Galveston is in for trouble, I spent about 2 years in Texas as a child, I spent two years there one night! The sea wall area can wear a man out. I couldn't resist it, My thoughts and prayers are with the residence who live in the path of the storm. |

Well, I survived. No trees in my house, but neighbors aren't so lucky. No power, but at least the weather is holding. It's unseasonably cool, thank God. How did everyone else fare? |
