Sunday, Aug 31 I went out to Western MD to Deep Creek Lake to put around with my Brother and my Brother in Law on their Harley's. I Took the Uly. Beautiful Day. I was almost back to Northern VA when I was struck by a car at a Traffic Light at Harper's Ferry. This was a old Mustang with some Ugly Tokyo Drift inspired front end bolted on. (the ultra large wing on the back stayed on) He hit me pretty hard and shoved me forward about 30 feet or so. Knocked the bags off and broke the latches. The rear tire had some chucks taken out but the rim was ok. I think the bags helped me to get shoved forward and didn't let the car climb on the back wheel. The witness thought that my helmet may have touched my butt! I hung on and managed to keep it up right. The rear fender broke, and the side bags have to be replaced. I didn't know whether or not I would be in shape to ride with my buddy (on a 08 busa) out on the sport bikes the next day. But I felt fine, and I jumped on the 1125R and hustled down to Harrisonburg to hit route 33 west. What a beautiful day. I think I finally have the suspension dial in just right. The 1125r is VERY impressive against a Busa in the mountains. I felt down right embarrassed for him. We had just turned the corner so to speak and were about half way of our 350 mile day trip when I was taken out again. Going through a small town we got behind a congo line. Just out of town there was a small place to pass. I was leading and I went out to pass with plenty of room (no oncoming traffic) and tucked up behind a group of decelerating hogs when WHAM! The 1125R and I were sudden up in the air sideways and slammed hard to the ground. I wasn't moving very fast at all and I just couldn't imagine what had happened. I got up and stumbled over to fall into a ditch on the other side of the road when I noticed the my buddies Busa (70 feet away)in a big cloud of dust on the side of the road. HE had taken me out! (probably just to get one of those pesky 1125R's off the road, he he) He had come around that car sort of blindly accelerating and then couldn't stop that huge mass of a bike with those brakes with the rubber brake lines I guess. He almost missed me really but the Givi bags that he had installed hit my left leg with such force that this alone upended me and the 11. Note to Self: Never embarrass a guy on a busa. (shameless Busa dig) The front fairing, the left mirror, left radiator cover, the alt cover, the rear tail cover and the rear swing arm (I know Keith, I know) were damaged. I was so impressed that the frame didn't touch the ground. But the force of my leg, with the weight of a busa behind it, dented the frame were my knee was. So the left shoulder is pretty messed up and the leg still has lots of fluid built up. The Sidi Vertigo Corsa boots saved my left foot. My Helmet and my armored jacket did there job well however. Those little hardened knuckle covers come in handy. So this is bad for all of you as I haven't been on here for most of the summer as I've been either working or out riding. No I'll have plenty of time to harass all of you. I just thought that Nothing could happen to me on that Monday. Heck I just had crash the the day before. With a couple of car wrecks, a couple of plane crashes and hundreds of dirt bike crashes behind me, I'm a big fan of claiming to be "Pre Disastered". I guess there is always room for a couple more. Cheers. |

Wow. Bad things happen in 3's, go get a cheap bicycle, get mowed down and get it over with Last fall i had 3 wrecks in 3 weeks on my Uly, and haven't tasted asphalt since. |

Bear, Bear, Bear....just because I wrecked doesn't make it the cool thing to do this summer, LOL. I'm glad you're OK. If you "need" a Uly anytime just let me know - mine certainly could use the exercise, it's feeling neglected these days. |

(I know Keith, I know) First, I'm glad that you are ok. Not too many folks can have two accidents in two days on two different motorcycles and walk away. But we do have sliders that fit both of your bikes... Keith |

+1 on the Dark Horse Moto sliders. The axle sliders saved my swingarm from being scratched this morning when I had the biggest brain fart ever (I went into detail in another thread). Basically, I was distracted (self-distracted), forgot to put the kickstand down & laid the bike softly on its left side. The only damage is a scratched up pod--light enough to where I could probably live with it. Since the pods are so reasonable, I have a new one on order. thanks Dark Horse Moto for making the sliders. thanks BMC for making reasonably priced parts. It turned what could have been an expensive, depressing incident into a "no big deal, shit happens" kinda thing. |

Huh, now I am worried 'cause I am another one of those "pre-disastered" folks too...me thinks I will pay more attention now. Glad you're all right! |
