So, my driveway tipover bent my handlebars. I thinking of replacing them with Uly bars. SO, will I have to redo any cabling? |

I think probibly so. the uly bars are a good bit higher than the lightning bars. |

Why go with the Uly bars? Defeats the stance of the XB's. |

I'd like a little wider bar. I think it might be fun @ the Gap. BUT, I'm not thrilled with the thought of re-cabling. I've found these options: "ultra low rise" (which I'm not sure if it is any wider than stock. These are 24 in wide.) http://www.americansportbike.com/shoponline/ccp0-p rodshow/9186.html and "low rise" which is apparently ".4" inches wider than those above, and a little taller. http://www.americansportbike.com/shoponline/ccp0-p rodshow/9181.html Anybody know the stock width? |

Try some TT bars. They're wider than stock SS bars and probably wouldn't require any major mods. |

+1 on the pro tapers. i am riding the schoolboy highs...much less backsweep than the stockers, great countersteer feedback. they'll feel "bigger" cuz of the angles. highly recommended.

Yea...the bike feels and responds like I imagined it would when I did my research on this bike, light and small. |

Itchy, I went to my local rice bike store that had dirt bikes and took my OEM bars in to find a fit. Pro Taper YZ High; part# 02-5232. Here is a link: http://www.protaper.com/contents/products/handleba rs/se.html#top |

Point doc: Did you have any issues with getting the grip ends to fit on there? (Handguards etc?) (Message edited by itchybro on September 08, 2008) |

itchy: if you mean the triple tree adapters, you dont need them. these pro tapers are a standard 7/8's bar. they are aluminum so they do have a smaller inner diameter. |

Well, I've got the heated grip kit and noticed on the American Sport Bike site that the bars I was looking at had a smaller inner diameter thus they suggested this: http://www.americansportbike.com/shoponline/ccp0-p rodshow/A9179.html I'm assuming the Pro Taper's wont have any issue? (as Point doc didn't seem to have any trouble getting the guards on there.) (Message edited by itchybro on September 08, 2008) |

Itchy's correct, there is an issue with the handguards. I had to turn new ones and I machined them out off Delrin.
