Yes. I'm a proud new owner of a 2008 XB12XT. Color: super-duper fast Black. Bought it from Buell of Glendale, CA (Ernie Snair). Great experience with them, glad I took the trip to that dealership. Question is: must I get a tattoo now? |

Just do it in ball point pen. That way you can change it on a regular basis. |

Welcome to the club, the only tattoo that is required is the grin that will be perma-tattooed to your face. Assless chaps are always highly recommended however. |

Congrats on the your new XT. Ernie's a great guy. Was just there(glendale HD) on Thursday with a buddy thats interested in getting a XB12X 2008 or better. Ernie let me know on Friday that he's got a 2009 on order, pretty sure my buddy hasn't put a deposit down on that bike, so your chance to get a 2009 XB12X is right down the street at the Glendale HD and Ernie is the guy you want to talk to. |

Xbimmer, I'd definitely like to meet up with everyone for a ride.... but let me break in the engine first. Side question for everyone: Does anyone have the part number for a stock 2008 XB12XT seat? I'm trying to find out if the stock XT seat is the same as the "low" seat offered by Buell for the Ulysses: http://www.buell.com/en_us/gear/accessories/produc t.asp?Menu_ID=2&ProductLineID=2&CategoryID=3&Produ ctID=4000 Thanks for any info. |

818, no they are not the same, see my seat thread here: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/cgibin/discus/show .cgi?142838/386432 |

Froggy, thanks.... but I'm still confused. Those bikes are the XB12X, not the XB12XT. The XT was designed to be lower than the X. Granted most of it came from the suspension but I'm trying to confirm the "low" seat is not the "standard" seat on the XT. Hence my question for the part number to check it against the "low" Ulysses seat. |

Yes it is different. Everything 07+ has the same seat. Like I posted in the other thread, the accessory low seat is a hair lower than the 07+ seat. If you really want the part numbers I can dig them up, but they are different. |

Thanks Froggy. Just a (hopefully) final question for you: the website says 1.5" lower, but your comment (hair lower) I would take to mean that's probably not accurate - what the website has listed. Any info on this? Also, if you can dig up the part number, that's be great. But don't worry about it. I'm working with the dealership on finding this info out. Thanks again. |

The 1.5" is down from the original, 06 seat profile. I do not believe the "low seat" is different enough from the stock XT seat to justify buying.(if it's really different other than a part #) I did a comparo when I was working a deal on a leftover 07 but it did not lower it enough(hell I could not even see a difference). 29" inseam lead me to the XT, my only option unless I wanted an X that I would have had to be VERY careful where I stopped........... |

(Yet) another question: When I push the bike backwards (into my garage) I hear this clicking sound. It sounds like it's coming from the belt and/or tensioner. It's not right away but after pushing the bike backwards for more than a couple of feet. The bike is in neutral. Is this normal? Thanks. |

Yeah, both my XB9R and my XB12XT do that. Hasn't seemed to cause any issues. Grats on the new bike, and it's even the right color! |

The biggest difference between the '06 Low seat and the '07-up seat is the Low seat places your butt a little closer to the bars. When I ride with the stock seat on my '08XT, I have to lean forward more to reach the bars. I'm 5'8" and I find the Low seat preferable. Others prefer the new seat. I would suggest that, if you go for a ride and you find yourself constantly pushing your butt back because it keeps sliding forward, you find someone with a Low seat and see if it fits you better. |

Thanks Crusty. I have the same feeling on the stock 08 seat for the XT. I'm leaning a bit forward when "back" in the seat. I'll have to look into the low seat and see how that feels. |

If you're tall enough for the 06 stock seat that will eliminate leaning forward. I was really uncomfortable with the XT seat and bought the stock 06 seat. Last weekend I rode 180 miles and had no discomfort at all. For $100 it was a great and inexpensive investment. The 06 seat will however sit you over an inch higher. |

818guy.. that is one clean XT. I've got an 08 X with Bags(aspires to be an XT). I'm in the 818 area(North Glendale). If you ever want to go for a spin let me know. I've got a great ride through the Old Potrero road up to the Rock Store in the Santa Monica MTNs. |
