I just bought a used 1125R with only 2300 miles. The rear wheel is black, and I tried to clean it to no avail. I also tried brake clean and still no blue. Also my rear brake pads are about a dime thickness. Is this normal, or did this guy rear brake it to death. Other than that, WHAT A BIKE!!!! |

I just cleaned my rear wheel tonight. Someone recommended Greased Lightning. I happen to have some and it worked really well. |

I find the 1125r brake pads to not last all that long. In almost 20,000 miles, I'm on my second set of fronts, and 2nd or 3 set of rears... |

at a touch over 6K mine are still good all around. can't believe you are going through rears more than fronts... |

I agree with cutty...I'm sitting just past 6K also and still have a good amount left on my pads. If I were burning through pads at that rate I would look into my braking technique before throwing blame on the pads. Thats not meant to sound harsh....just some thought process. |

People must be riding with their foot on the brake. Im right over 5k and my rear pads look new still. |

Spectrum......... are you still having continued success with acetone on the wheels with no ill effects? http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/290 431/354541.html |

Yes, I use Acetone every 3rd or 4th wash, with no ill effects. I've also started using a Turtle Wax car was soap on the wheels after the Acetone. The Turtle wax soap has a finish protection to it that also seems to make it easier to clean the next time. |

Did not have any acetone, but the engine degreaser got most of it off. One more cleaning and it should be completely blue. |

go fast around corners and save on brakes and gas! I use that Harley wheel cleaner and works well. |
