Well that program was a pathetic waste of time. Maybe Pearlman can explain during a commercial break how the decades old club keeps their colors so tidy. And now, a word from our sponsors..... "I'm Ron Pearlman, Leader of the Sons of Anarchy. You may be wondering how such rough & tough bikers can keep our rides, colors and selfs so clean. It's not easy staying first day prospect fresh. In order to stay sparkling clean and refreshed we started "Punks & Prostitutes". Make sure you ask for the 3C service plan. 3C is our cycles, cracks and colors special. First, your cycles are washed by our soap technicians. Highly trained after years of bighouse shower service, our punks carefully clean every nook and cranny of your ride. If their work is not to your liking, beat them until it is. Hell, beat them anyway. It keeps them in their place and is a great stress reliever. While your bike is washed your colors are cleaned by our working girls. They know how to restore and keep those threads in new stitched condition. Your cracks are also carefully cleaned, dried and powdered. We know monkey butt just makes for an irritable biker. That service is performed by punks or ho's, your choice. As an added bonus, our ladies perform a thorough head inspection. Our oral technicians polish your head, and tighten your nuts until a relieving protein pop is served. Our customers can easily be spotted by their clean rides, colors and bug splattered perma-smiles. Buy an SoA supporter shirt. Wear the 191 with mock pride." |

I dunno - I kind of liked it. I was happy to see that the bikes weren't the stars of the show, but rather the characters. Some of it might be a bit cliche, but what show isn't. I'm also glad to see how the main character looks like he'll develop. It's pretty clear that itll be him against the world in trying to make the SOA a peaceful group...or something to that effect. I'm waiting for the next episode. |

I watched it. Not as I expected, but I wasn't terribly disappointed. I feel it's better than Terminator and is the only show that's caught my attention since the first season of Heros. It has some established actors/actresses in it, but sadly, not everyone there has spent much time on a bike and it's obvious. I noticed the complete lack of wear on the clothing and bikes for that matter too. XL, I agree. From the looks of it, he will try to get the club back to his dad's original vision by his suggesting that they don't rebuild 'the factory'. It looks like Ron Perlman (wife pushing him in one scene)would be the bad guy by the end resisting Jackson's move to the original vision for the club. |

Yup. It just seems to have a deeper story line than a bunch of biker dudes shooting up other gangs and the cops. I think this is going to be one of those shows with a "cheesey" base (similar to Heros, Chuck, etc), but has has some real meat beneath it and gets a following. |

White 3 piece patch. I wonder what the club boys from Cali had to say about that. And um White, Only if you are trailering your bike around will it stay white. And who were the 'technical' support pros that advised them on bikes?!?! 8 inch street slammers that top over a clipon fairing on a FXDX with forward controls? If those are "club" bikes, come earn your colors here we got a couple of starters for ya.

I submitted the CityX up on there, lets see if they think it is hooligan enough well they have posted some sport bikes and a scooter as well as a guy in a,"can you see me now a--hole?" t-shirt so we'll see. Then there are the brilliant comments, Snake is making sure to make a clever ricer comment on the sportbikes, too funny, haven't seen the bon fire comments in years. Oooh a biker terms section too. Originals- A member's first cut that is never to be cleaned. maybe they should check their own site? Hey, this gives me an idea...what if we Buellers started infiltrating the HOG chapters. After awhile, we can get enough members in there to take over the club, send the toy rides through the twisties and terrorize, well, whoever it is we'd terrorize. We can do it. We can take over the Hogs and Brag about it. Come on, guys, whaddya say? |

I saw it. It was all right. Not as good as "breaking bad". But kinda typical for FX. Along the lines of "the shield" and "rescue me". Just enough bad guy stuff to be cool, but drama for the soap opera effect |

I'm not big on TV-viewing, but, for an enormous number of reasons, I checked in on this. Most are likely unaware of the inspiration for this series, the lawsuits that followed it's inception, and the actual personalities that certain characters are based upon. I found the pilot's representation of contemporary clubs, overall, to pretty damned accurate. Here in the 21st century, when most club members no longer wear long hair and beards, and where many are devoid of tatoos, 'clean colours' are, by no means, the exception. Spend any amount of time around 3 of the major 'big 4' charters, and you'll see more clean than soiled colours....You'll also see almost only gainfully-employed, tax-paying family men, believe it or not. Much as the rest of our ambient culture has changed in the past 40 years since Hunter Thompson's book, so has the life of the 1%er. Unfortunately, those unaffiliated with the contemporary 1% lifestyle often reach back to HST's dated, sensationalized, outsider treatise. A prominent 1%er, when I asked him (while watching the Giants game at his house) what HST was like, in real-life, said "the guy did too many drugs and was always high...he exaggerated everything and was too high to know what was going on. " The struggle between the founding principles of the fictitious club in the series with it's contemporary modus was an unexpectedly germane concept for such a low-brow 'Sopranos-on-scoots' vehicle. The few departures from reality, in my estimation, were the gun-running and the bitch fighting style displayed by the VP when he sucker-cued the skinheaded gentleman in one scene. All clubs represented in the series wear only black & white colours, so as not to offend the fewest extant 'M/C' organizations. I was impressed at the representation of the West Coast's second-largest club (whose name also begins with an "M" , and the bulk of whose ranks are made up of Latino riders) and the inherent struggle between the two. Anyone familiar with West Coast charters will recognize, instantly, the inspiration for "Samcrow"....and for "Jax" I suspect that we'll find out that the young Iraq-war vet prospect is actually an ATF agent, and that the deer head he left, surreptitiously, under the clubhouse pool table was miked... (initially he was disgusted by the carcass, then we see him handling the rancid head with glee) I', bracing for the onslaught of new pseudo-clubs popping up, now, and the education they'll likely receive from their pre-existing, resident organizations. In these cases, they'll simply be told to lose the 3-piece patch and don 1-piece patches. I remember how life began to imitate HBO, around here, after The Sopranos....I weep for the Summer of '09. |

Tramp, are you referring to the Mongols? One of my employees was a member of the Devil’s Disciples in Columbus, OH. He had owned a construction business, was a veteran of the fight in Kosovo, Purple Heart, a wife and a son. He was actively involved in all aspects of his family’s life, but stayed out late with the boys. The older, die hard bikers respected the Buell up to the point of admitting that such a light bike with so much power would be a hand full after jumping for a softtail or a dyna. I had considered riding with them until I had read some things and my wife, who is a dispatcher, had told me some of the things that the local officers relayed to her |

Mehhh, lame bikes (old guys should ride older custom/customized bikes, nobody should ride with those lame air-splitters zip tied on). The writing wasn't so bad, the plot line was a bit much though -- sheesh everyone knows you traffic in AKs and knock-off pistols, not ARs and Glocks (hell the military can barely get all the AR they want right now and they get em factory direct). Bottom line for me, if you can't ride a motorcycle I figure it might be fun to watch but personally I would rather be out riding than watching a show about riding... my .02 |

Thump- I try to make it a habit to avoid mentioning too many clubs by actual name, online. Too many associates google the club names every day, and I have no friends among the "Mayans" and "Penguins" as it is. Plus, I really don't feel like dealing w/parking lot antics I go to see "The Cult" play in a nearby, recent "Mayan" city, near here. They're everywhere these days. The club life is something that no book, movie or FX series can effectively capture for the unassociated. I think of all the cool 60-70-year old officers I've ridden behind, 'til dawn, out partying, on either coast, or through gothic European cities and I honestly feel that there's a huge aspect of the life that is thoroughly missed by the media and the entertainment industry. The funniest part is that these same members really could not care any less. I saw my last Dead show with a west-coast president, just him and me. We parked on the sidewalk, strode past the box office and the line, and went up to the front of the stage at the Warfield when Bobby Weir nodded a big grin to my host and broke into "I know you rider".... chills, man. Those who haven't experienced even a taste of that life could not even begin to understand it. (Message edited by tramp on September 05, 2008) |

With all the stockbrokers, lawyers, doctors in the patch clubs, you would think that there would be a Tv exec or producer in the fold, and that they would manage to get some of the things right. Obviously not on this set. Still wondering how JAX started his bike, never saw the awkward Dyna Key shuffle required by the FXDX. |

Actually, the 'Doctors and Lawyers' claim is just another urban myth. The vast majority of 1%ers are union employees, most of whom are vets. The time commitment that club life demands excludes high-hour professionals from the ranks. I can't imagine that any TV execs, etc., have the time to commit to prospecting. The show deserves some credit for getting much of it right, frankly; although they could have dispensed with the 'ex-dancer scag' wife of the 1%er myth, as well. Most wives of club members, whom I know, are FAR removed from the ex-dancer set, and are, in actuality professionals such as teachers, office managers, etc. The differences from charter to charter, within a club, are often notable, as well. Individual M/C charters tend to be more individualized than most outsiders realize, hence there's plenty of latitude for individuality between charters of one club. The difference between most major M/Cs and other fraternal org.s is the long, arduous membership process of the M/C, which ensures a more cohesive unit. hotheads and ashsoles are quickly weeded out by such a process. |

Hello, it's reality check time! It's television for f***s sake, it's just a means to sell advertising so you can give more of your $ to whoever sponsors the show or pays for time in the breaks. Go read a book, the pictures in your head will always be better than what's on the haunted fish-tank! |

Mr. Grumpy- well said. Unfortunately, some folks read too many fluff books as it is (esp. regarding militaria and espionage) and, as a result, they 'have all the answers'. Sometimes it's not so much the pictures in the armchair-life reader's head, as it is the voices, from which the real issues emanate. They told me to type this post |
