Ok, so... don't do this and don't buy these

Got new lighting harness - yay

Since I'm finally this deep into things and finally know where the accessory line is (orange wire off the main harness), I wanted to add a line to the sub harness to use it for my running lights. The guy behind the parts counter at my shop actually understood what I wanted when I asked if I could get an extra connector to cannabilize and came back out with this:

and my task just got way easier -

Open sesame,

click!

One new harness + accessory line...

Still need to split the line for the left and right turn signals. I decided to make a separate splitter in case someday I might want to add a battery meter I have my eye on. If I do, I can make and swap in a three way splitter. I'm retentive that way...

HID relay harness...

I thought I'd be pressed for space with the relay, but there's a nice open spot for it behind the battery (Firebolt)

zip-tie to the battery strap clip & move on...

Here is where I get stuck.

There is barely enough room for the bike's own wiring to go between the engine and the frame, and most of it is inside of plastic sheath/sheild. I'm also concerned about the heat thru there anyway. One thought is to zip time it to the horizontal support strut. Everything around here shakes and is prone to chafing if the wire touches the heads or the transmission...

I'm pretty much stumped and stopping for the evening. Though I think my best bet will be to drill a hole in the back corner of the inner airbox cover and route the wires thru the airbox and out the intake scoop that runs thru the frame. Not as clean as I wish for but it solves a lot of problems...

I struggled with that same problem. I ended up routing it through the frame by the engine (carefully) with split loom plastic armor. It was perfect last time I rotated the engine, that was after at least 10k miles.

Just armor it up and route it well. It takes a lot to melt the wires.

^^ yep that's what I did too. I routed my wires right along side the Buell wires inside the frame next to the motor, then around the steering head, again zip tied right to the Buell wires.

Ok, so I'm worried too much about it. I do that sometimes.

Swapped the plastic tubing for braided wire sleeve.

This stuff is hard to find! Sure, you can order it, but if you want to walk in and back out with some so you can be riding tommorow - good luck. If you live near me, Ideal Ride of Woodstock has it.

Looks just like stock. I like when that happens.
