I often read about people not being able to easily resize pics. I use a MacBook, and it's super easy. However Windows does not come with an easy solution, but one is available for free from Microsoft. Read on if interested: FOR MACS: Simply open the image in Preview, then "Save As". Leave the "Format" as jpeg, but move the "Quality" slider down until "File Size" reads less than 71 kb. Click save and you're done! FOR WINDOWS (at least XP, not sure about Vista, I'll check tat out at home tonight): Microsoft provides what they call "Powertoys". Download and install the image resizer powertoy here: http://download.microsoft.com/download/whistler/In stall/2/WXP/EN-US/ImageResizerPowertoySetup.exe Once installed, whenever you right click a photo, one of the sub-menu options will be "resize pictures". Just select medium or small, and it will save a smaller version of the photo. That's all it takes! I run XP Media Center edition in Parallels on my Mac, so I have both Operating Systems in front of me all day long- so feel free to ask any questions. |

Easiest way is to use iPhoto (which I HATED when I first got my mac, but no w I love the program- it has some very useful features). Take any picture that is in iPhoto and do the following: -select the photo -go to File, then Export -set "JPEG Quality" to "Low (smallest size)" -set "Size" to "Custom" and set your max dimensions as desired -click "Export" Sounds like a lot of steps, but it's actually quick and easy! |

FWIW - I use ubuntu linux. GIMP does a great job at things like this. You can resize and then export your quality level. www.ubuntu.com www.gimp.org All free. |
