I posted here because this PRIMITIVE web software does NOT enable new posts to bring a thread back up to the top (OK - Rant off but I just stumbled into this in the archived thread http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/290 431/374602.html?1220490190#POST1244838 after Glendale posted it today) - so in order to help Glendale out a bit, I put the pics up here in a NEW THREAD!

As I understand it, that is the new Catalyst bodywork that they're selling now... and looking at the race number, it is the shop's bike so it is likely to be there on any given day.

I saw that bike before coming to Korea. The exhaust is looked like a modified stock can. (hacking and welding, the welded some turnouts on which I thought were very functional.

It is a awesome looking bike. I did enjoy the rims. To bad I have to wait a year plus before I can do anymore to my bike.

Looks like the rear part of the can has been shortened also. Body work looks good!

For clarification's sake:
1) The bike is not a shop bike, but my personal daily ride/occasional race bike.
2) It is at the shop most days since it's my commuter.
3) The muffler is stock, but shortened by about 5 inches to more easily accommodate tire warmers, and make it louder.
Thanks for the kind words.

Now I really am having a hard time deciding! I like this one it's lines are smooth. The Flexiglass (?) one is slightly more but the pods rock. This one seems to fit the bike better, at least by the pictures.

I'm am curious how he did the exhaust.

You'd have to call the Parts dude - Serge - at Glendale about the exhaust. He was working on it and I got to look at his dyno print out... it appears to work well and sounds nice without being loud enough to act as "Police Bait."

Don't know if it is for sale (yet) but what I saw when I was down there REALLY worked!

It's an '08, look at the front brake line - inside the fork.
It does look like a black frame tho...

Hdbuellofglendale,
Did you modify the exhaust? What mods were made?

I'm looking to mod the stock exhaust to get just a little more rumble out of it.

I cut the end of the muffler off just behind where the mounting bracket weld to the top of the muffler. Then drilled a bunch of holes in the chamber walls inside, and welded on a new end-plate. It gained 1 hp, but sounds good, actually. I had the frame and swingarm painted black as soon as I got the bike. Couldn't handle the blue. Only other mod was removing intake snorkel and a/c housing. Runs great. -Mario

Hdbuell.......

I went to their website and saw their stuff, very cool.
Got a couple questions. Did you have to cut out the holes for the headlights or did it come ready to go? And was the bodywork hard to install? Thanx

He can correct me if I am wrong but the only thing he is running from catalyst is from the pods down.

The fairing is stock.

New poster and possible new 1125CR owner.
I went to Glendale Harley/Buell (So. Cal.) this morning for a test ride on their mule 1125R.

I gotta give a big thanks to Ernie (sales) and Mario today.

Even though the place was pretty packed, Ernie took the time to set up the suspension for my weight.

I expected to go for a quick cruise around town.
Mario took me up onto the freeway and at a slightly spirited pace...we went a few miles up Angeles Crest Highway.
Even at a late start, the few cars we came in contact with moved over to let us by.

Mario and I talked a little about the bike in the above pictures...unfortunatly, it wasn't there.

I'll go to the TL1000S/R post to give my review.

Again, thanks Mario and Ernie for your help and quick canyon cruse. Very good people.

Mike

The Glendale folks are really cool... not many dealers who you can buy from and then see them at track days and race days. (870 is Mario's race number)

Ernie treated me good when I got my FIRST Buell... and a year later I got my SECOND from him. Still have both - race one, the other is my streetbike (I don't sell bikes, I use them up!)

Glendale is one of the rare shops that "Gets" Buells. They also have parts guys that OWN and Ride and do TRACK DAYS on their Buells too. Cool place.

I got my 1125 from Old Glory HD/Buell in Laurel, MD. Same story here.
They "get" the Buells as well. Very "Buell friendly" is what I call it.

Some of them already own Buells and many of them, even though they ride HD's, have taken the 1125 on at least one track day.

I have to say that I think Buell did a great job on this bike. Yeah, there are a few little quirks here and there. But for a brand new engine and mostly new design to be this good "out of the box", they really did their homework.

Two thumbs up to Erik and the Buell company!!

Hdbuell....

Got a question about the bodywork. Is the fairing a separate piece from the pod section or is it molded together?

I've been to the Catalyst website and haven't been able to find out so far.

Thanks

The fairing is in two pieces:
- upper half with integrated pods
- lower half
The seams are just below the pods.

It is available as a street version, which has cut-outs for the lights and sidestand
The race version, no lights and no sidestand cut-out

I believe it comes in primer color and you would have to paint it to suit.

The black frame and swingarm are custom. When Mario got the bike, it was disassembled and the frame pieces were sent out for painting. (probably really good training for the tech in the shop which benefits me, the customer!).

Glendale lent one of their own 1125Rs to Catalyst as a model and is a dealer for Catalyst.

That is a very good looking kit. I doubt you could find a better one and stay in style with the bike.

But to me it's a bit like finding a woman with beautiful natural strawberry blond hair one day and she goes standard bleach blond the next just to be a part of the pack. (Unless your racing and need the aero of course.)

Thanx Doerman,

I'm thinking seriously about getting this kit. It really adds to an already great looking bike.
