"Auto Tranny oil cooler" Coolers for automatic transmissions are constructed specifically for the properties of ATF, not for relatively heavier weight motor oils. It will cool motor oil, but it won't be nearly as efficient as a cooler designed for that application. |

Edward if your not going to use a sandwich in between the filter and block feed the oil from the pump to the cooler then from the cooler back to the block at the oil filter. Joe |

The important thing about the oil cooler is getting it in the wind stream so that it will cool the oil, so technically it can be put on the feed or return side of the oil pump ... Ever think about a RETURN LINE OIL FILTER ??? |

Yes.Return line from pump on my S3.Also radiator will fit nicely in front of oil filter. Then I can use lowers. Also will use oil line bypass.Oil filter adaptor I guess is just a matter of taste I guess.Only reason for radiator is plastic oil tank does not cool and price + not comfortable inheat!. I have a old FoMoCo power steering cooler in the return line. It's under the rear fender, the wheel acts as the fan. |

Edward The output of the pump to the oil filter is a single oil line. You can have a local shop make your two lines with fittings. One from the oil pump output to the cooler and the other from the cooler to the oil filter housing. I have the JAGG spin on adapter on both mine. I toy with the idea of the lines but have spent the money already and don't want to give up the extra couple ounces of capacity. I'm not an engineer so I put my coolers in the leg of the oiling system that I see the industry use, check out the XB's location. I have found that my bikes oil runs in the 190 to 210 degree range here in the south during the summer. Haven't monitored them in the winter because I don't ride too much when it gets into the 40s.
