From Sanchez: Today started off well, but it didn't end so hot for Connie. She low sided coming around a left hander on 129 and landed in the ditch with her bike on her chest. Russ was following and saved the day by pulling it off her. Connie's at Northeastern GA Medical Center in Gainesville right now. She's a true 3%er, and when she wrecked, she did it right. : ) She tore her liver and will probably need surgery. She'll be in the ICU for the next five days or so. The bike's not too bad, all things considered. The rear suspension link broke, the handlebars are mangled, the shifter's bent, and the gauge cluster snapped off. We tried to haul it off ourselves, but the GSP said he had to call a wrecker since none of us were the owner. From Dan (Kdan) Connie's boyfriend: Hey all. I'm home. Connie's going to be an inmate of the hospital in Gainesville for a while. No idea how long, but the docs are optimistic. She has a lacerated liver and kidney. They're not too worried about the kidney, but they've got her on clotting drugs to hopefully get her liver to stop bleeding without surgery. Should know by tomorrow night if that approach is successful. They wouldn't let me stay any longer as she is in ICU, but I'll be back there at 08:00. She's in a lot of pain, but they have her on some nice drugs. I'll tell her everyone's thinking of her. She's a trooper and I'm sure she'll be fine after some healing. Thanks again everyone for all the help up there. I'm indebted to you all. Especially you Ratyson. Glad you were there for her. She loves you guys and she's more worried about her bike than anything else. I gotta say the gear held up well. The helmet is toast, but served it's purpose. I'll let you all know how she's doing. Connie in true 3%er form Please join me in sending your thoughts and prayers, positive energy, to Connie while she recuperates. Let's fill her inbox with well wishes! Here's her profile so y'all can PM your best Bambi I'll help keep y'all posted on how she's doing. Thanks BadWeB! |

My thoughts are with Connie and Dan. Went down that (figurative) road not too long ago myself and still recovering, so I know what she's going thru. Love and support, and she'll be back in no time |

Prayers and Positive Energy sent. One of the lousiest feelings I remember having is when I woke up in the hospital the morning after I totaled my bike. Nobody who's had that feeling could ever be indifferent to another misfortunate rider. |

Where did the Dragon bite you? She wasn't at the Dragon. This was the more southern end of 129, not too far from T.W.O. From Uncle Charlie: Last I heard from Dan was about 3 today when we went to get the bike. She called while we were heading back and was in good spirits. After closer inspection it looks like a rear shock linkage, shifter, handlebars, and some cosmetics will get it the bike back up and rollin! Thanks for sending your best to Connie. I'm sure she appreciates it. BadWeB is the best! |

Bambi, You got STYLE, that is for sure! I reread this and if I got this right, you catch the bike and land it on top of your body to minimize damage, you hand someone your camera as you lay there, and you pose the SHOCKER while prone! |

From Dan: Just got back from the hospital. She's out cold. They increased her meds and she's mostly just sleeping. When she's not sleeping, she's passed out. Her family's been to see her and everybody is feeling better about her prognosis. That said, they're going to keep her in ICU for a while longer to keep a closer eye on her. They only let me hang out there for a half hour at a time, and she's stable, so I'm going to work tomorrow. I'll be back up there tomorrow afternoon. I've been printing Badweb for her, so anything you said, she's seen. She appreciates all the well wishes. Thanks Charlie for helping me get the scoot outa jail. It'll run again, but it ain't gonna be pretty. I see a Line-X paint job in it's future. |

A true Bueller; to keep from damaging the bike any more than necessary, she actually let it ride on top of her! Take care, heal up and hit the road again! |

You got STYLE, that is for sure! I reread this and if I got this right, you catch the bike and land it on top of your body to minimize It was an amazing sight really. I was right behind her when she went down, and saw her and the bike rattle around in the ditch, and at the last second, she slid herself right under it to absorb the impact.. the rear end of the bike came down right on her chest. She did a hell of a job minimizing the damage to the scooter... THAT my friends is love of the sport. But really, it scared the hell out of me when I saw the bike come down on her. When I got to her (about 20 seconds later), she seemed to be having trouble breathing due to the bike on her chest. She was able to pull herself from under it when I lifted it up. I hope I never have to see anyone in that situation again.. scared the hell out of me. Did I say that already? Heal Well Connie!!} |

Thanks for all the words everyone! I'm printing this and I'll take it to the hospital with me. We can't say enough about this great group here and the support and love we've found on the Badweb and hanging with the 3%'ers. Bambi appreciates it too, believe me. She'll be fine, she's got good Dr's, she's at a really good hospital and a sh!t load of good juju from all of you! Thanks. Anyone have the rear shock linkage for an SV650? Now I got 3 projects. |
