I've been finding more firebolts for sale than lightnings lately, but I cant figure out how they're different. I've looked at the specs and they both weigh the same and have the same hp (both at the same rmps) & tq. Are they geared different? Can someone help me out? |

Ride heights, length, seating position, fairing... Just look at pictures. They both run the same engines. |

I know that the R's have a fairing and the S's don't. I was just wondering what really separated the Firebolt and the Lightning. So basically its just the physical size and a more forward leaning seat position? |

So basically its just the physical size and a more forward leaning seat position? Basically. Firebolts look more like a crotch rocket, as the to Lightning's more awesomeness looks. |

I agree that the lightnings (S&SX) look better. I was just wondering what the main difference was. Now that this is cleared up, anyone want to contribute to my bike fund? I accept paypal. |

the good thing is all the parts that make them different are interchangeable so you can buy a one and turn it in to the other. |

if you like men! the way (DAMPNUTS)likes em I'm not the one who HAD to take his Dad with him as a chaperon to go out on a guys weekend trip to March Badness. I always wondered how you could walk around with no backbone. |

The only real difference besides looks is ergonomics. The Firebolt seating is more tucked in. An aggressive "crotch rocket" position that makes hanging off and such easier. Bars are narrower than an S so a tiny bit more initial push of the bars is required over the Ss. It's really a non issue though. The Ss has a more upright position with wide bars that give you a little more flick leverage. You get more wind resistance from the upright seating. Both bikes run like Hell Hounds nipping on the heels of prey. (The 1125R is a Hell Hound that catches and eats it's prey). Both bikes pretty much turn at the speed of thought. |
