I was curious what the consensus on wearing Harley gear on a Buell is. Is this a taboo? Saw alot of real nice Harley gear at my local dealer today, then I looked at the "selection" of Buell gear....pretty dismal. What are your thoughts? Matt |

Wear what you like. who cares what other people think. the most important thing is you are wearing gear! |

Nah...I think it is alright. You are likely going to be paying a big premium for it because it has a Bar and Shield on it, though. If I were you, try finding some Alpinestar or Icon gear. It probably looks better anyways. Plus, they have some plain colors if you don't like the Ricky Racer look. |

It doesn't matter what name is on your protective gear as long as it's quality and you're wearing all of it. H-D has some very good equipment, and it looks great. All air-cooled Buells are H-D at heart, so it's perfectly fine to wear the colors. I would, however, stick to equipment that has padding for arms, shoulders and back- not all H-D jackets have this option. |

Most sportbike riders are really anal about mixing brands, but buells, as was already stated, are harleys in essence so its ok, i wear my harley leather jacket, shirts and boots when i'm on my firebolt, but thats cuz typically harley dealers(in this area, at least) keep a small, pitiful selection of buell products(this includes bikes sometimes, unfortunately), the shop i got mine from had a reasonable selection and quite a few nice shirts so i stocked up while i was there(on harley and buell shirts, cuz they also had the best harley designs), cuz I cant make that 3 hour drive on a regular basis! |

you might want to think twice about getting a buell tattoo, however.. |

Yeah, quality is priority 1 to me. I was curious cuz the HD/Buell dealer had some real nice H-D riding gear and no Buell riding gear (lots of T shirts, but no riding gear). |

I've had people try and make a big deal out of me wearing HD stuff. This one guy was such an ass he says that's not a Harley! Why are you wearing a Harley shirt? I said the Harley dealership gave me a shirt when I bought my Buell, they also gave me one when I bought my Harley there too. I said I wear what I want and don't pay that much attention to what dudes wear because, well, I'm not hyper gay. He road off on his Honda and his face was about as red as the tank. |

All the Harley accessories I've looked at were made in China and were over priced not to mention poor quality. I wear a Shoie helmet (made in Japan but high quality). I'm now looking at the Buell leather jackets. Like most said just get the best gear you can afford. |

Most of the Buell leather jackets are made by Vanson, and although they aren't inexpensive, you will be hard pressed to find a higher quality/better protecting jacket at any price. |

In my brief experience with buell people. They wear everything from Aerostich roadcrafter to Levis and tshirts. As long as you don't were a pink thong, ahhh wait thats been done too. As long as your not naked. |

I've never thought twice about wearing my fxrg nylon gear on my Lightning. I think its pretty good stuff, and while it wasn't cheap I don't think its priced that far above comparable gear. Doesn't hurt that the HD logos are small either. gbr |

I have 2 H-D Jackets (1 perforated and 1 solid) that I wear while riding any of my Buells. I also have Harely SWAG on my Buells. Never had anybody say anything to me. If they did say something and I was in a good mood, I would probably point out the motor is based on a Sporty motor... If I was in a less than good mood, I would probably ignore them or tell them it's my gear I'll wear what I like!!! If they persist.. I would tell them unless they are going to be kind enough to buy me some gear to mind their own business!!!! |

it would be hard for me to not wear H-D stuff seeing as how my t-shirts are either h-d shirts or or some sort of rock band. But then again most of my H-D shirts were given to me by either my grand partents. Every time they go on a trip some were and they stop at a H-D shop they get me a new t-shirt, kinda like people who collect Hooters t-shirts from every were. I also have a pair of H-D boots that I got on sale at the PX when I was in Korea. |

I got sheet this morning by three greasy harley folk at a gas station...."wanna be". I look at him and said..."have a nice ride out of town Dennis Hopper." Harley's riding gear is pretty decent stuff. I had a Joe Rocket before my HD jacket and the HD is way nicer in fit and cooling. |

I bought a HD textile fully padded jacket a few years ago in a mark down rack at a dealer along the interstate in Georgia. Last one of a certain style in my size. 50% off. My wife sewed a buell patch above the Harley Davidson lettering on the back. I also have a couple pairs of HD gloves and a HD branded rain suit. Some things that come from a company that is 105 years along, is pretty good stuff. Even better at half price! |

I wore my HD boots and gloves on a Ducati this weekend. I almost wore a HD t-shirt, but I wore a Rays t-shirt instead in honor of the great season they are having. I get a kick about this brand stuff. I am thinking about buying a Ducati shirt to wear when I ride my HD. Or to really tick people off, I may go to the Honda dealership and get a Honda shirt. The group I rode with this weekend consisted of 2 Hondas, 1 Suzuki, 1 Kawasaki, 1 Ducati, and 1 HD. When we stopped to eat lunch a group of 8 or 10 guys and girls came in with leather vests with big patches and pins all over them. They were all on HDs. They completely ignored us. I thought it was hilarious. The restaurant was small and they were at the table next to us. But they wouldn't even look at us. Oh well, I ride a Harley. I like Harleys, but some of these guys crack me up. Bottom line, wear whatever you like. But please wear protective gear. Or don't, it's your skin. I'm partial to mine is all. |

This one guy was such an ass he says that's not a Harley! Why are you wearing a Harley shirt? Ever see someone get out of a Japanese car wearing a Harley shirt? Happens all the time. I have zero problem wearing HD stuff on my Buell, and Buell stuff on the HD. Never had anyone say a word to me about it. |

Meh, get some Fieldsheer or Alpinstar gear and stay safe and protected and cool (love my mesh Fieldsheer jacket). Arai or the like on the helmet front are the way to go if you like your face. HD gear had gotten better lately though, some of it is even in colors other than black! Wear what you want, tell people to suck it if they give you crap. |

You do not have to have the word Buell to have a Buell tattoo.

I wear a Chinese made jacket (thank you political prisoners from Tiananmen square) with a Buell patch, nebo patch and American flag on it. If HD is taboo my jacket is probably sacrilege. |

My New Buell Mesh Jacket has HD buttons and zippers... So we're still in the same pot. If the HD guys don't believe me, I can show them the HD shield logo on the left side of the cylinders on my XB12R. |
