+1 for Toniportray. It's been a while, but my brain tells me they're different. |

Quick question. I recently put a D&D exhaust on my blast, should I have any issue getting it inspected with the D&D on? or should i just be safe and put stock on for inspection? |

LOL - stock on inspection - you'll get to be able to swap them out in record time. EZ |

might depend on where you live - if you fail the inspection in TX you have 2 weeks to get it re-done without having to pay again. |

Lament for White Brothers...sadly the company is gone and Vance and Hines owns the intellectual property... Moving on my Jardine can was getting loud so the time had come to repack my WB can (2lbs of #4 steel wool) and reinstall it. Talking to a couple of old time Harley Tuners in the area they recommended a bit of exhaust restriction to improve MPG and torque. I set up the can with 10 disks (stock is 12) and replaced all the mounting hardware since it's been 2 years on the existing stuff. Everything together I turned the engine over and my wife's first comment is how much quieter it sounds. I didn't test ride it for 2 days but yesterday on my morning commute I noticed a number of things, it's much quieter, I hear all the other engine noises that the packed in Jardine covered up. And it pulls a lot better, the torque curve is definitely broader I have power much lower down and some at the top that I didn't have with the Jardine though probably not as much, I'll except more useable power for top end these days. It doesn't rev as fast but throttle response is better. Also my tranny shifts smoother no more false neutrals, between 4th-5th especially. I'm sad about the Death of WB, I will covet my exhaust for many years |

Okay, D&D exhaust or Jardin? I keep getting mixed signals, you guys drinking on the blog or just trying to confuse me? Seriously though I'm going o spend some cash so I want the best performance for my daily driver. And there is very little on e-bay now. |

Jardine, then later get the D&D exhaust can, which is different than getting the whole D&D system. EZ |

Jardine then a Supertrap can.....understand I don't like the D&D because it's not tuneable and it's LOUD the Navy has given me enough hearing loss without adding to it |

If you go to a 3" Suppertrapp - use 23 discs, if you go to a 4" Suppertrapp - use 12 discs. Tony - its not half as loud as the Force I run - & working in an main engine room while in the USN - I relate to the hearing loss, and with proper care the D&D can is indestructible. EZ |

yeah my hearing loss is from working on and sleeping below the Flight Deck of an aircraft carrier...I could never run a Force it's way to loud for my taste (like and open header and illegal in my town), I like the growl of the Blast engine through a disk muffler it's authoritative without being obnoxious |

I appreciate the help and direction, found a D&D system through PIPE CITY online for under $300. I think I"m going to go for it, I don't mind the noise, (member, loud pipes save lives) Besides nothing is as loud as my daughter crying when she's hungry. Babies are cute but don"t sound half as good as a thump, thump, thump! How do I customize an intake by the way? |

yes loud pipes save lives they also garner unwanted attention, Harley guys get $250-$500 tickets in my town for pipes like the D&D. My parent's town has a big sign that reads "Loud pipes whether straight or not are not authorized within city limits fine $350 + impound of motorcycle until next business day" Make sure that no place you are planing to ride has such noise ordinances |

LOL - I was on the Forrestal - CV59 - I used to sneak naps in the Catapult room - of course I used triple hearing protection. The D&D header is designed just like the Pro-series except the last step is 3 inches longer & doesn't split out into 2 exhaust cans.EZ |

WB went belly up and V & H owns the rights? Personally I liked the ProSeries, nice tone, one of the quietest exhausts and got the job done, as long as you didnt go past the other ProSeries mods. WB=POC. Install it how the factory said and it wouldnt last long. Went through 4 in 2500 miles."Repack every 25-30 hours running time they told me"LOL! Now using one on the raceBlast, where it belongs. WB also had only a 90 day warranty on HD exhausts! But they're gone (?), so who cares. Only been stopped twice in 30 years for a loud exhaust. Never ticketed. You gotta watch where you are. Running WOT through 'old town' USA is going to attract unwanted attention. Until you start doing some serious engine mods or really know how to tune a carb and exhaust, which available exhaust you choose isnt going to make much of a difference. However, piecing together or making your own (without knowledge), can kill performance. |

Just removed my brand new Jardine with quiet module and put back on my Vance&Hines. Does anyone know the torque specs for the 2 headpipe nuts? The Jardine definitely gave more power without the quiet module but was too loud for my neighborhoods without it. Seemed too restrictive with the module. The V&H I can keep under control noise wise and I like its sound better. Probable put the Jardine up on ebay. I bought a D&D but after one session I pulled it and guess that will go the Ebay route as well. Going to buy the workshop manual for the Blast but could really use the headpipe nuts torque specs as I always seem to hear a tick tick continuous ticking sound where the pipe joins the cylinder head and am never sure I am tightening too much or too little and not getting a proper seal. I'm not using the stock tapered gasket but the non expanding one. Thanks EZ and all for your mods posts, sure has made my Blasting more fun! |

Head nuts 6-8 ft-lbs (30-34 Nm). Tighten the lower first, then the upper. (I like to check torque after the first engine run). If you're using a non-compression gasket (like Nevco),high performance hard metal ring, its very hard to get them to seal. The others are either square or tapered and both compress. What would be really cool was if you offered up those exhausts here first at a fair price. (just throwing them up on e-bay is like telling your friends you've got some stuff for sale and would they like to come over and bid against each other for it!) Jardine and D&D for sale. Gearheaderiko, actually my ebay info was a gentle probe as I didn't know the protocol here on the forum regarding selling stuff. Of course I will offer both for sale here first. I've got $150 in the D&D and it's in perfect condition. The Jardine just arrived last week from Pipe City and it was $305.00 delivered with the quiet core and I only had it on for 2 rides, one with the core installed and the other without. I can put up pics if anyone is interested. Shipping will be at cost, Fedex ground home delivery. Thanks for the specs and gasket info, I think I'd better go down and retorque right now! |

The Protcol is you can sell any one off items you want IE: you're not a shop, online store or running a production, posting stuff for sale. Just regular people winding up with too many parts/stuff. The classifieds either on the Thumper side or Badweb twin side would be the place, but letting us know here first is cool! |

Yes - Perfect -shim the needle some time when you have it - that will eliminate all lag at 2000rpms. - just two #6 machined brass washers or 2 regular but don't excede 0.05" width. The machined ones all came in at 0.048" to 0.049" mic'ed - regular ones need to be manually checked - lol - its not a hard thing to do, though you do take the tank off. EZ |

Snake oil! In truth it works if you are using a free flowing exhaust (open pipe, etc.). Using it on a stock exhaust will hurt power (it already has something like a torque cone already). Most other exhausts will also NOT benefit from it, depending on the exhaust. Those that do benefit from it will probably just see a change in the powerband (IE where the most torque is produced). Great for engines that use low rpm torque (like Harleys), bad for an engine that relies on high rpms for usable power. My opinion based on research and reality! |

Torque cones rob from the top and give to the bottom, so you'll loose top end speed and power - this can be affordable - if your making enough power, but not on just a slightly modified Blast - cam, comp., headwork - then maybe - for the street - but a near stock Blast - your just robbing yourself.
