I wanna know a couple things about tubers while I'm selecting parts the "perfect" Buell chopper build. 1. When it comes to INVERTED front ends, what are the differences b/t models. I know about the 54mm diameter similarity w/ S1, s2 and the S2 SEEMS to be the ONLY model w/ a top clamp w/o HOLES DRILLED for top-mount bars (Lookin for smooth). Want to know MORE. Like length differences. And 2. Are there ANY differences INTERNALLY b/t carbureted and Fuel injected motors/ The conversion to carbs is easy enough I'm open to either. Somebody at a salvage yard told me -99 motors had stronger bottom ends(?) dunno. HELP ME OUT GUYS. I know you know somethin. Thanks for anything/.} |

99 motors had the better fuel injection. the best motors to have are the XB motors, Tubers be damned. Stop taking apart our beautiful tubers and making them butt-ugly choppers!!! So start making your choppers out of wrecked XB's. We don't mind that so much because they are still being made... Besides, they have the better front ends, and rear ends, and motors, etc, etc... |

Not to be an A$$, but I don't understand these types of projects. You take the frame away from a Buell and it's a HD, isn't it? I've seen a few on Ebay, but maybe I'm missing something. R. |

We don't like your kind up in heayah. BTW '99 priors have less durable cranks and carb'd and FI motors had no differences though bikes and engines had various changes all through the run. I could tell you the perfect bike that has all that is desired, but won't! |

Jconnors, Contact the assembler/manufacturer of similar choppers [Redneck Engineering http://www.redneckengineering.com/index.php ]- they assuredly will provide advice and support (especially if you may spend $ with them...) The guys here are Buell enthusiasts and see the tubers as the nascence of the Buell Motor Co. The bikes are revered and when threatened, lovers of their kind will defend them and (on occasion) attack thos who threaten them. Go in peace. |

You F#*kin guys... Well I get it. But I'm probly gonna bug the Tech section to be sure. Did it never occur to anyone that I might be piecing something together from salvaged parts I.E. NOT tearing down but building up rather. I chose Buell because I've had Three now, and they have all the kickass Americano parts I like. I take tuber parts over XB anyday. Anyway, no offense takin, even if you I did get the finger form some sensitive types. ALL feedback is appreciated. |

Well, if you might have mentioned its all wrecked/salvaged, you might have had different response... You've got to realize, we're a touchy bunch... |

The S2 forks are a couple inches longer than others, and they have big red knobs on top for compression dampening. The pre-99s had heavier cranks and lightning heads, except the S2s which had sportster heads. the 98 S1W and 99-02s had lighter cranks, Thunderstorm heads, and better cams, and '00-up had better oil pumps. The M2s had different cams with slightly less top end but more low-mid range power, and all the M2's were carburated. pre-99s were carbed as well. |

Wow does the fur fly when this kind of project is mentioned! Mr. Connors you have every right to do as you please with your vision(please make it tastefull) Knowing you have had other Buells means you know the benefits of there engine/tranny package and the ease of there use. I would recommend however that you be a little more stealthy about your inquiries(you felt the flames)on these sections. As mentioned Redneck engineering in So.Carolina is your best friend in these matters, ask for fredde. They have built several and either make or have available all you need, go ahead ask me how I know this! |

When I sell my extra RS, I don't care what happens to it. It'll probably go cheap enough to chop. |

Xlforum.net seems to be more open to this kind of Buellicide (I just made the word up). You can be with others of your ilk there. I go there too... they got the coolest cafe Sportster builds I've ever seen. We should invite those guys to Buelltoberfest... I think it would be cool riding with hardcore Sportster cafe bike dudes... kind of like sibling rivalry. I bet some of those guys might be able to keep up in the mountains! |

FYI, I, like some other here, was brought over to this site from the XL Forum (Kinda like Judaism to Christianity). I built my cafe/streetfighter sporty ("Cruel Intentions") salvaging many Buell parts that were already disembodied from their parent bike. After dumping $Ks into that project and still finding more damage, I was converted to Buellism with the Purchase of "Priscilla". She 'saved' me lol. I could ride with the best of 'em through the mountains on my 1200S, but you should really see me on a Buell! |
