I planning for an S1 sub frame and oil tank conversion on my S2, and would like to see pics of your S1's naked rear please. |

I was just thinking about that the other day Spidey. I'm sorry, I flat forgot before I left town. Now I'm stuck in Oklahoma with a broken drive belt until my dad sends me the belt off my sporty. I will send it as soon as I get back in town. BTW, I AM withholding information on this project. The rest is top secret... (Message edited by phelan on August 28, 2008) |

I'll send you a pic of my S1 frame, being as it is stripped. BUT upon receiving said picture you agree not to hack, cut or otherwise modify a S2 frame with malicious intent! |

I did like that black, chopped rear end S2 at Homecoming, flat black. |

Sorry Spidey, there is blasphemy in the works , but it is really for a good cause. If I had money I would do it on another Buell and Bag out the S2, but this is my only bike (except as Sportster parts bike) so it's happening.. On the plus side, the finished result will look REALLY good... But again, I am withholding some valuable information... Oh and I found some pics.

I'll keep that in mind. I really only need the tail end as I don't have the tools for a complete tear down. Would you be interested in hacking the tail off to save shipping costs? |

I did like that black, chopped rear end S2 at Homecoming, flat black. I did too. I thought I took a pic of it but I could not find it. I went through the homecoming thread with no luck either. I think Phelan really needs to see that pic.... Anyone have it? Frank} |

Okay get this. I was looking through the archives and I found something I really liked, so I did an MSpaint mockup of my plans, and I decided I'm not going to use part of an S1 frame, but I am still modding the S2 frame and using the S1 oil tank. I will be using a modified stock tail section. You all probably want spoiler pics of my plans, huh? Well too bad, I'm not ready to let the cat out of the bag yet. I just need to know now how the S1 oil tank bolts to the frame. |

I have a pic of the black streetfighter-modified bike from Homecoming. I believe it was actually an S3. I'll post it here when I get home. I also think anybody who modifies an S2 in irreparable ways will live to regret it. To wit: Grandfather - "Yes Sonny, I remember it very well. Back in ought-eight I had a pristine Buell S2 Thunderbolt. Ya know, that was the first Buell model built once Harley-Davidson climbed on board the Buell rocketship! They didn't make very many of 'em and they sure were beautiful. Styled after a nude woman lying in repose, I believe. Handled like a dream and, oh that glorious V-Twin sound! Mine was Yellowjacket Pearl..." Grandson - "What'd you do with it, Grampa?" Grandfather - "Huh? Oh, I chopped it up..." Grandson - "What?!! Why would anyone do something like that? Grandma's right, you ARE a stupid old f#$&er!" HellBuelly J |

Okay, now this is funny. I finally decide to post a pic of my plans, but there's thunderstorm outside so I can't get the thing up to clear my name! LOL. |

okay, now it's working. Here's the photochop. The fairing is a modified ducati 900ss fairing, the tail is solo'd and the support beams are hacked and will be replaced with S1 style support braces. Nobody better steal my idea before I build it... (Message edited by phelan on August 29, 2008) |

I like it. I've got a buddy in MN who has a mold for the single seat tail piece. It'll save you a ton of time. He has done several single seaters. Take a look at the old V&H brochure from 96-97 era, that's his bike. |

Really? How do I get ahold of him and how Much do they run? Time isn't as big an issue to me as greenbacks. |

Here's the S3 from Homecoming:
I actually have a single seat S2 tailsection that Road Thing made like the one Phelan is contemplating. It doesn't need any frame modification to fit. I'll be getting a complete body set painted using it soon. HellBuelly J "Oh, the Buellmanity!" --Herb "HindenBuelly" Morrison |

I'm only planning on nodding the frame to ditch the visible support beams and and aluminum oil tank, as well as use an S1 oil tank. I understand that I will have to barrel out a new hole for the oil tank, as well as possibly have to take the off each time to check the oil. I'm down with that. I will replace the Phillips screws with some thing I can quickly stick a wrench on. |
