Anybody have the part numbers for the RevB Clutch Cover. Had mine in the dealership this week trying to locate the source of a faint smell of burning oil. Turned out the clutch cover is leaking. Just want to make sure they order the new parts so if one of you guys in the know could post the new part number. |

You got an extra zero in the part number like the first poster with that number on that thread. Correct one. R1029A.1AM |

So the number R1029A.1AM is really a revised cover? I was just in at my dealer last week and had them call Buell about it because mine just started to leak. The service manager said that Buell does not have a new style cover and to just replace the seals. They ordered the seals, and now I'm confused! Who's full of it? I really hate going to the dealership and don't want to go back again in a few hundred miles for the same problem. |

Interesting, the dealer is refusing to fix it. They claim that the weeping is just moisture (not hydraulic fluid) and that it is normal which is why the little pin hole is there. Of course that doesn't explain why the finish is discolored. It has sealed it's self up for now, so I guess I'll just wait till it starts leaking again. |

There is a new clutch cover, but it does not have to be replaced to fix the clutch leak. My leak was fixed without replacing the cover. Mike |

I think in the beginning they where probably going ahead and replacing with the new clutch cover. I am sure cost is an issue and someone at corporate might have clamped down and made the first line fix the o-ring replacement. The list for the part is over $300.00 for the kit. I went down on my 1125R on the right side. It wore right through the skid puck and took some metal off my clutch cover. I had to spring for it out of pocket. Cool thing was I got the dealer to put the new one on during my 5th gear recall so it did not cost me any labor. The new parts are much better design at least as far as the skid puck goes. Looks like I should not have any issue in the future if I lay it down on the right side with it damaging the clutch cover. |

Spectrum, you know as well as I do that it is not moisture. The hole is like a vent, the piston moves back and forth and needs a air vent. My dealer ordered the seals but I just wanted to make sure their was not a redesigned part because of the leak problem. My weep hole has leaked 2 times that I noticed in the last 2 weeks. Not very bad yet but not acceptable to me. |

I did not notice the problem till after I had road the bike in a hard rain for an extended period of time. I took the bike out this weekend and put 500 miles of hard riding in the mountains and no leakage. Based on that I think it is reasonable and plausible that it was moisture. I'm not convinced yet it's not the clutch leaking, but for now I'm just going to take a wait and see if it happens again approach. |

Spectrum, if your dealer is insisting it's water and not Dot 4 fluid, ask him to taste it. After all, what harm will water do him? |

Mine has a consistent weep. If I clean it off, the trail is back in a couple of days. I'm going in today to talk to the SM and see where we stand for parts. I hope they don't stall me on replacing the cover with the new one... I still have NOT needed to add any fluid to the clutch. 12.4k service next weekend. Z |

>I still have NOT needed to add any fluid to the clutch. > 12.4k service next weekend. Mine only needed to be topped off once in the first 12,000 miles. At 18k miles, I'm having to top it off almost weekly, and that's after having a round of seal replacements. Dealer has the '09 slave and cover kit in, and that's going on the bike this week along with my 18k service. Hopefully fixes the problem. |

along with my 18k service Good lord, do you have a job? I can't even imagine having 18K in this amount of time. Congrats on the mileage! I'm seriously jealous... |

Jdugger, if you've just had the two seals replaced it will continue to leak (my bike has had 3 sets of seals). What you need replaced are the 2 'O' rings on the piston sleeve, since it's these that are causing my leak. Sadly, these 'O' rings are not available in Europe, maybe that's the case in the US as well? |

Well mine is now leaking again (surprise surprise.) I'm going to call Buell Customer Service before I take it in again. I'm going to try and keep this fact based and have reasonable but firm expectations as to how I'd like this to be resolved. I've had positive experiences with my dealer in the past and Buell has a history of being fair at standing behind their products. Based on this I have confidence this can be resolved to everyones satisfaction. Facts: - My clutch cover is leaking and I know a number of other owners that have had the same problem. - There are some questions as to whether it's moisture or hydraulic fluid. - It leaks consistently. Not ever ride, but definitely every time I take it on a extended ride. - The leak has caused the finish on the clutch cover to discolor. - There is a revised/improved clutch cover design available. - Other owners have had this repaired without replacing the clutch cover only to have the problem return. Assumptions: - Moisture or brake fluid debate aside both are equally unacceptable. Moisture can freeze and cause corrosion and these could lead to further damage. - The revised clutch cover is an improved design. For whatever reason it was redesigned, it's more desirable to have the improved part regardless of why it was redesigned. - Leaking is not normal. I rode it for the first six months (8000K miles) with no leaking. This included rainy conditions and washing on a weekly basis (hand washed and no pressure washing). Expectations: - I want a permanent solution. In other words no more leaking and no more damaged finish. - I expect whatever the solution is that it takes into consideration minimizing the possibility of any future failure that could result in injury or death. - How the repairs are effected is up to Buell and the dealer, I will accept and trust their decision. I will post back with progress updates as this evolves. |

Spectrum, I was one of those who had a repair with limited success, and then some difficulty at the dealership getting them on the same page , and insisted their was a revised part . I ended up calling Customer Service and was given a claim # , approving , and most of all proving their was such a part available . Any painted part damaged by leaking fluid is also covered , I only have 1000+ miles since the new clutch hub was installed , but all is well.......except make sure you have them order ALL related parts on your claim , mine is still waiting for the Buell emblem located on the top of the hub above the pegasus . |

I talked to Buell Customer Service. They are ordering the parts (revised clutch cover) and having them sent to the dealer. He suggested I wait a couple of weeks to take it in for the work. Reason being, he expects the revised calibration to be out by then and they can do both at the same time. I thought the suggestion to wait on the revised calibration was interesting as I did not mention or ask about it. |

Someone already posted in another thread that the revised calibration will be out 9/15. |

Did you get the weeping problem sorted? My clutch cover is also weeping. |
