I had been aware of the hotel issue in Cali so I rented a giant RV. I will be parked for the whole 4 days. Hopefully bringing the Buell and a DR 650. Definately bringing the DR though as I feel it's dual purpose apointments may come in handy for riding around the grounds to recon possible different viewing sites. |

Does anyone know what the deal is with the Buell bleachers in Turn 4? Open to all with a Buell key perhaps? Sweepstakes winners only? |

I didn't see anyone at monument circle today for the kick off celebration. It was pretty cool. Nicky's and Valentino's bikes were on display along with a Desmo and a bunch of vintage bikes. Four 125 gp kids got a massive escort ride to Monument circle. There was also a stunter doin cool stuff on the ride in. The mayor welcomed the "new phenominon" he also discussed other stuff going on. It was pretty cool. There was a lot of media. I talked to one of the cameraman about the vibe and he said it could go either way. might depend on the weather. the Redbull trailer was there and the bitches too. |

It was STILL exciting to be here!! I wouldn't've missed it for the world. Ben Spies must be making the people at Rizla Suzuki wondering why the hell they passed him up. And Nicky Hayden gave Repsol Honda a perfect "Up Yours!" with his performance today. Hope they'll be happy next season with Dani the Whiner. |

Jaimec, I'm actually not far. What maybe 6 hours away by car. I went to Laguna and to see those bikes be ridden on the dry I will not forget soon. |

Between practice and the race we got to see the full gamut of weather conditions. It was simply amazing to see what they can do in the wet. We sat in the rain for the practice on Friday, and my buddy noted later that he was enjoying the event so much that the rain never bothered him. I can agree on that one. Hayden seemed to be falling off fast. I think he'd have dropped down another notch or two given a full 28 laps. Still, it was a good showing by him and by Spies. Here's to better weather next year! |

Nicky had no tire left. Then when it started to rain he was even in worse shape. |

Something was up with Nicky. Valentino took 7/10ths of a second out of his lap time and Lorenzo was catch him too. It rained alot but my wife and I dressed for it and stayed dry. We wouldn't have missed it for the world either. We are going to renew our tix when we get home. |

Something was up with Nicky. Valentino took 7/10ths of a second out of his lap time and Lorenzo was catch him too. As BADS1 says, Hayden ruined his tyres when the track dried, so that when it rained again he was effectively running on slicks. There was nothing he could do about Rossi and was lucky that the red flag came out when it did, as by his own admission he would not have been in a position to defend his position against Lorenzo or the following riders if they caught him. Stoner was also on ruined tyres apparently, and was happy that the race stopped when it did. Pity you didn't get to see the 250 guys in action, but hopefully next year the race will be dry and you'll get to enjoy the best racing class left in the world before they kill it off and replace it with yet more 600 IL4's. Ben Spies certainly did his career a lot of good at the weekend, and if he has not signed already it should get him into a MotoGP berth (even if not a factory one) for 2009. Pedrosa looked average at best all weekend, and his switch to Bridgestones must surely seem a mistake now. If the whole field ends up running a one tyre rule next year then he would have wasted the whole second half of the 08 season trying to gain an advantage that will be wiped out over the winter anyway. Looking forward to Japan now and some better weather |

Don't doubt you did Rocco. If you haven't gotten to see them before its a great thing to see. But to have a weekend of sun and great weather is totally different. If you have the chance to go to Laguna... do it. You won't be disappointed |

watching the racers get down to the 1:40's in saturdays qualifying was over the top!! friday's practice in the rain was very interesting and how those fellows raced in the deteriorating conditions sunday was indeed heroic. i'm in for next year also. i hope that they have much better, consistent conditions. tim |

I just got back from Indy (took a detour through Deal's Gap on the way home), and it was awesome. Getting to see MotoGP bikes perform in all weather conditions is a real treat. The best part came Monday when we got to take two laps on the track- in the dry! Crossing the "Brick Yard" about 80mph on the XB12R is an experience I'll never forget. I will post some pics shortly. |
