From what I am reading, this looks like it might be fun and a good place to meet some Bueller folks. I was down putting around the Deals Gap and the Blue Ridge these past couple of weeks and I sure liked the area. Lets see, my Garmin software tells me from my home to Two Wheels Only in Suches, GA is 1011 miles and the projected driving time is 16:34:30. Looks/Sounds like it might make a good Iron Butt Saddle Sore Ride! I think I may try to put this one on my projected calendar for this Fall. Trapper, I rode from my house to TWO for MBV - 999 miles. It was 28 degrees when I left my house, and did it over 2 10 hour days. |

Froggy - do you know if you're going or not? Did you get a trailer (I think you said you had)? If so, you got room for one more? |

At the moment I got nothing. I've been practicing long distance riding, so I hope I'm all broken in by October. My biggest issue will be bags, as last time it was cramped and uncomfortable riding with a duffel on the back. I will be doing local riding again with the duffel this weekend to give that a whirl. |

Shit. I'll have a new, unbroken-in bike and will need to trailer it down. Let me know if you want any help with routes, where to stay on the way, etc. I only did that trip a few months ago! |

Yea i was in the same boat for MBV, I didn't feel safe and comfortable riding a bike a thousand miles that was on the same tank of gas when i bought it. |

By virtue of the fact that it's so close by, I might throw the tent on the back of the Uly and head on over myself. |

like, $4.00 a gallon high? If so, I may be luggin' some fuel up with me since were creeping close to $3.00 a gallon here. Hopefully it'll drop more before then. (Message edited by TORQUEMONSTER on August 27, 2008) |

Thx Charlie. After thinking about it, Im not gonna sweat fuel cost. Whatever it is, the riding and hanging out will justify it. anyone brining a grill, and may I buy some time on it? The $ I spent on food at the lodge and Dales breakfast during MBV was rediculous. Good eats, but a lil pricey. (Message edited by TORQUEMONSTER on August 27, 2008) |

Thanks Paint. Much appreciated, but unfortunately I might not make it. I know...."aw, dang...noone to hold us up in the corners" lol. The wife decided she wants to go to N'awlins to see NKOTB for her birthday (barf), and we're taking the kids to Orlando for Christmas, so the fun budget just took a major hit. Plus, Im outnumbered 4 to 1, so any demands I make will be vetoed most def. Unless $600 falls from the sky, Ill be thinkin' bout ya'll come October. 210 days, Steve. I will be riding in from Texas and then heading out to Norfolk after the festivities that weekend. If I stop and fill up a collapsible cooler with beer, can I borrow some ice chest time with anyone? I can share beer.... |
