Okay, I just went through this pain again. The lower nut on the exhaust collar, rear cylinder fell off on a recent trip. I was sort of able to get things put back together with some home depot parts to get me through the trip. Now that I'm home, I replaced the gaskets and re-learned how painful putting that nut back on is. It's the one next to the O2 sensor. Anyways the manual calls for this tool. It's pricey, well it is snap-on. I just can't believe any socket is going to fit in there. Anybody using this thing? Does it work? Thanks Matt (no longer sounding like a straight pipe machine) |

NO need for all that. I have had my stock exhaust off and on, my old race header, and my current D&D header... never used that socket. For that matter, even on my sporty, I have never needed anything more "special" than a torque wrench, and a few one off tools for locking the primary, etc... just, when its cold, get your sockets(start with 1/4 inch drive), and get creative... we arent talking alot of torque on those nuts... Actually, come to think of it... I had a 1/2inch 12pt, wrench, that I had put a 20-30* bend in for that one...that I kept in the tail.... Chase |

yeah, thats what I've been doing, getting creative with the 1/4" stuff, but you can only get a couple turns and then you're stuck with trying to get a stubby wrench in there. Guess I'll bend up the $6.00 stuff I bought at Home depot. Like you said, all I need to do is remember to take it with me Thanks Matt |

I always used a 12pt socket 1/4" drive on a 4" extension, on a 3/8 to 1/4 adapter, to a 3/8 drive torque wrench. Its kinda long but it gets the job done. |
